Bad ctx, but 15 min apart...go?

So, I'm having really bad contractions (in my back like with my son I had) to the point all in can do is moan and hold my breath (this last one even startled my husband awake). But, they only happen every 15 min or so... And not very consistent... And towards the endi can feel discharge coming out. I know I can call etc, but what's your opinion? Because if I call they WILL tell me to come in as we all know at this point. TIA

Re: Bad ctx, but 15 min apart...go?

  • I'm a FTM so I have no idea but I hope they either subside for you so you can relax and go to sleep, or I hope they progress so you can have your baby. Is it normal to feel discharge coming out after each contraction?

  • I was having this Sunday through Tuesday morning. Started at 20-15 minutes apart and slowly moved to 6-7 minutes apart. I'm still here!!! Try to breath through them and not fight as I was not and holding my breath. Try getting up to and drink 3-4 big glasses of water. It sit on a stability ball if you have on or just walk around your house for a bit. If you do call at 15 minutes apart they won't take you, unless you have other underlying issues that they would be concerned about. But keep tracking and try to hold out till 5 minutes apart if you can!

  • Ditto everyone above. Also try a warm shower /bath to relax more.
  • I don't think I would call yet, my office is pretty clear about not bothering until you're at five minutes. Labour in the comfort of your home as long as you can. Good luck!!

  • I would wait it out. I just wouldn't want to go in to be sent home because I'm not progressing but that's just me. I feel like when it's time to go in you go and there is no question in your mind that you should head in.

  • It would depend on what the discharge is... if it's thick and most likely mucus plug, laboring at home makes more sense, but if it's thin/clear/watery and could be amniotic fluid, you need to go in and get it checked out now.
  • Have you tried applying heat (sock full of rice has been recommended by many), or asking your husband to apply counter pressure?

  • I didn't go, and I'm still having bad back contractions... But now they are averaging every 15 min or so. Ugh. Some have even brought me to tears.
As far as the discharge, it was your typical mucousy discharge, but not it's starting to be tinged red so now in keeping an eye on that.
I've done water (liters upon liters), heat, rest, movement etc. and nothing has helped... I wish they would either speed up or stop already.

  • Have you called? I would call and see what they have to say. They aren't going to automatically say come in...and it might make you feel better.
  • Hopefully they either subside or get closer together for you. Keep us updated!
