Baby-wearing STMs+ rec your carrier

With #1, 2, and 3, I used a Moby wrap that we found on clearance, which I like... but it is kind of a pain putting in on. I am starting to investigate what other baby carriers/wraps I could have, and I thought I'd ask you ladies if you looooooove (or hate) a particular carrier... tia!

Re: Baby-wearing STMs+ rec your carrier

  • For older babies especially, Ergo all the way. I didn't get one last time until DD was six months old but I'm getting the newborn insert this time around.

  • I have two Ergos I love them so much I wanted to make sure there was always one in my car.  Ergo all the way!

  • Also love my ergo. Didn't have it when dd was little so will be getting the insert this time.

Also love my K'Tan. Great for little babies but a lot easier to use then the Moby

  • I've been looking at the Ergo too, but someone told me that with the insert, it gets too hot in there in the summer time...thoughts?

  • I hated the Ergo when DS needed the infant insert but loved it after that.  I just felt like the infant insert never really worked that well.  And, yes, they do get hot with that infant insert in there and being up against you.
  • I don't use buckles (I like wovens and mei tais, which are pretty similar to the moby so you probably wouldn't like those), but my friends like Kinderpacks. People are going nuts for Tulas these days too.

  • Beco Gemini was great with DS.

I am hoping to get a ring sling and an Ergo this time around.

  • I plan on going boba with this lo I hear nothing, but great things. The tula (sp?) is another great one I hear but I think there's something about not using it with infants. I was going to go ergo until I found out about these too carriers.

  • I used a moby for when DD was little too and a beco for later. Both were ok. I've heard great things about the boba and k'tan though and would love to get them but have a feeling DH would not understand the need for two more cariers!

  • I used a seated snugli with DD. I still do at 20 months if she needs to be carried for a long period. It's just like an Ergo but cheaper.

  • I had a k'tan for the nb phase. I liked it but DS did not. We both love the boba though! I like that with the boba I can use it for the newborn phase without needing extra inserts. I've heard of some babies getting too hot in the ergo insert. Here's us in Chicago at the beginning of August. We didn't take a stroller and DS just slept in it the whole time it seemed like! I'd love to try a ring sling though!

  • I love my moby for the first few months. Then I switch to the beco Gemini from a structured front carry. When baby is big enough for back carry I go to my boba 3G. I might try and use my boba from the start this time.

  • Ktan for the first few weeks, it was ok. I want a ring sling this time. I have a beco Gemini, which says up to 45 lbs or something but he out grew the body of it around 5 months, he is tall but not that tall. Now we have a kinderpack which I love and its the standard size so the body is knee to knee again. I'm getting rid of my Gemini and getting either an infant tula or kinderpack.
  • I used a mei tai with my first when he was itty bitty, but then it got waaaay too hot in the TX summers. I got into wrapping and did that for a while until he had no more patience for it. We then went for a Kinderpack which is the fav! This time around, I bought a ring sling (made from Natibaby dandelions wrap--loooove). I also bought a Hop-Tye mei tai made with the pretty pune wrap.
