I was at my sister-in-laws today who EPs for her twins and I was noticing that her milk looked more like whole milk and mine is more watery. She said she can make enough milk to feed 3 babies and I can barely get two ounces at times. She says she pumps every 2 hours but my baby nurses every 1.5-2 hours. After he nurses if I pump I can barely get anything. I'm just wondering 1) how to produce more milk in general and 2) how do I get more hind milk when I pump for him? Does body weight and boob size have anything to do with her output? She's bigger than I am. Thanks!
Thanks for the input. I figured he was more efficient at nursing now which is why I don't get much. So for daycare I need at least 12 oz. I have a stash but I'm worried about making enough bottles for him for 4 days (I'll be home with him on Wednesdays). Do I just keep combining them for a couple of days to make enough? Any tips on when to pump to get the best output? I'm going back to work Tuesday!
Re: How do I make more hind milk?
pump in the morning after you feed him, to get a little extra for a stash-- yes, just keep storing that until you have the 12oz
you only need enough for that first day back at work, then you will pump while at work to make enough for the next day's bottles.
