Baby weighs how much!?

I went to my 37 week appointment today and they guessed our baby is around 7 pounds 9 ounces.... I didn't even think to ask but is that the weight they are guessing now? Or guessing the baby will weigh when he or she is born? It's just funny because my husband and I both were under 7 pounds... But I guess things change! (: but anyway... I just wasn't sure if they were guessing the weight now or at birth. Thanks! & also how accurate was your doctor ?

It is supposed to be what they weighed at the time of the U/S. I don't take a lot of stock in it. I had one on the first where she weighed 4.15 and then one on the 22nd where she weighed 6.9. So she would have to gained almost two pounds in 3 weeks but I didn't even gain 2 more pounds. It is a very odd thing.

I had an fetal assessment last Friday at 38/5 and the tech estimated 7lbs but like a PP said the estimates could go +/- a lb either way.

Mine was 7 1/2 pounds this morning. I get growth ultrasounds every two weeks, so I've been (mostly) believing the weight estimates, since they have been on a consistent growth curve. I wouldn't be surprised if it was off by a bit though.

My last u/s estimated her at 5 lbs 13 oz, almost 3 weeks later she was born at 6 lbs 4 oz.
My middle one was estimated at 8.8 and she weighed 8.8 at birth.

Based on my weight gain though, I was thinking he'd be more like 20 pounds haha.

Ahh I was just told the same thing and made a seperate thread because I didn't see your post!!! I'm not die until Dec 27th and they said 7lbs 6 ounces!!!

They told me DS1 was 9 lbs 4 oz and he was 8 13 so they were pretty close. It gave us an idea that he was big, even though they were a little off. I am getting weekly ultrasounds now and doctor is guessing off his size now that he will be high 9's if I go full term. Even the doctor told me they are just estimates, they usually don't get it exact. We shall see.

Trust me, it won't make much different. I birthed a 7 lb 2 oz baby and was torn like crazy. My second was 9 lbs 3 oz and I didn't tear at all. Either way it doesn't matter much with what you feel.

My ultrasound last week showed he weighed 7 lbs 13 oz. When he was born on Monday he was 7 lbs 2 oz.
It's all just an estimate.

Yeah, it's all guesswork, as everyone says. I had my last growth scan yesterday and my MFM said that DD2 is weighing in around 6 lbs now....if I go to term she estimated that she'd be about 7.5 lbs. With DD they said that she was around 6 lbs 6 oz a week or so before she was born (went to 40w 3d with her)...her birthweight was 6 lbs 15 oz. So, pretty close. We'll see what this one comes in at, but I expect her to be in the low 7 lb range.
