We spend a lot of time going to the gym and we love going to Target... We play a lot of board games, enjoy talking gender theory and our favorite date night includes a trip to the dollar movie theatre, popcorn and fountain sodas!
However, most importantly we get up at least 30 minutes before we have to get out of bed so we can start out morning with some quality spooning time

So... When we first started talking about what our kids would call me, since I don't identify as male and female, I wanted to come up with something that was unique an felt right. Honestly I don't know how Doodah came up... But it just seemed to sound perfect to me! This is only made more interesting by the fact that I had a dog in early childhood named Doodah... Which, to me, is totally unrelated

and I had totally forgot about until I was reminded by my sister. Then the 1013 is for our wedding date... October 13! We both live for October and wanted to challenge the old wives tail that gettin married on the 13th was unlucky!

You mentioned your love for the hunger games and your internal struggle with your love for it. So if you were to write a young adult novel that would automatically be as popular as the hunger games, what are some elements you would definitely include or make sure were excluded?

Hmmm... I would definitely include a lot of classic dystopian tropes, but shy away from violence masquerading as entertainment. Also, I would want to pull a Jeanette Winterson and have it be first person narration with no gender designation. Throw in some classic epic conventions (good triumphs over evil, main character struggles to come to term with being a hero, etc.) and then mix all that up with magic and mystery and BOOM... Paradigms shifted! YA literature changes forever.
What a fun question!

Top three favorite movies?

Okay... I am going to cheat... Because I mostly love nerdy series and I am only going to count then as one. Also favorite is so relative and I am basing these selections on if I was stuck on an island and could only watch these movies for the rest of eternity. Based on artistic merit would be different... (I also have a tendency to over complicate things... Yipes!)
So here are my desert island favorites!

1. Lords of the Rings (I watch all three extended editions at least once a year, much to A's dismay.)
2. Harry Potter (2 and 3 are not necessities, the rest are)
AND
3. The X-Men movies... Including First Class... Not including movies exclusively about Wolverine because they bore me...

Okay... Now that we have established I am a total nerd when it comes entertainment... I feel I also have to admit that I am huge Buffy fan, and also have watched the entire Lost series multiple times.... So much for anyone thinking I was cool....

For a while I wanted to be a jockey... Even though it turns out I hate horses and am also 5'7".
I also wanted to be a professional soccer player... Even though there is no professional soccer league for females in this country.
Then when I was old enough to really know what I wanted I knew I wanted to work with kids...!

I think all of my camp experience is the most meaningful. I have worked at camp for a decade, but the summers I spent working at sleep away camp are a huge part of who I am.
I learned so much about what I am capable of.. I have pulled more than a few all nighters with sick, or sad kids. When I directed summer camps I talked more than a few teenagers off the ledge! It just reminds me so strongly of why I want to be a parent. I love the crazy things kids do and say, and watching then have those "Aha" moments when they really make a realization about where they are in the world, and the power that they have to be themselves and do good.
I also met A at camp, and obviously that is a huge part of who I am. We grew a lot from our experiences as a couple, and know we have a strong base because of some of the hard times we faced when working bein in call 24 hour days for 2 months.
I really could talk all day about why camp has meant so much to me... Even though it pays next to nothing I wouldn't want to do anything else!

So.... My 2012 is answer varies by leaps and bounds from my 2013 answer! We originally wanted 4. A was going to have all of them. Now with what we have gone through we both plan to carry once... Then if we do want others we will adopt. There are so many kids in this world that need good homes and we want to be a part of that in any way we can.
Of course if you ask A, she will still say she want to have "One Hundred Babies"... Sometimes it is exhausting keeping her in check!!

Pretty much everything... Playing guitar and singing to them, teaching them about nature, taking them to play sports (if that's there thing, fx), taking them to see movies, snuggling, telling them bad jokes that make them laugh, watching them get there first puppy, dancing when we are sad, jumping in puddles, I could keep going all night... Just one so bad!!

LOL - I'm a nerd too then because Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter are my top favorites. Trying to convince EV of a HP marathon over Thanksgiving weekend. Don't think she'll be convinced - :-)
