Acne?

edited November 2013 in October 2013 Moms
Hi ladies! LO has been developing a lot more baby acne recently (I think it's baby acne). She's almost 6 weeks. At her one month check up it wasn't as bad as it is now but the pedi didn't mention anything about it. I've noticed the last few days it's has gotten worse. And since this morning her right ear is out of control!!

I've look up photos and info about eczema and it doesn't look like that's what it is. But her ear is so red and bumpy. When she lays on me it's usually on that ear and she usually gets really warm and sweaty. So could that be what's irritating that area?

Here's a pic of her ear plus one of her cute outfit yesterday for your time!

Edited to add photos duh

Re: Acne?

  • I can't help other then to say my LO's face is really broken out too. We have our 1 month checkup today and I plan to ask about it. He face is so dry in spots so I wonder if there is something I can put on it to help.

  • I think someone on here mentioned breast milk. Baby acne just popped up on my baby yesterday, so I'm going to try that. Otherwise it's something that just clears up on its own

  • At DD's one month appt, the pediatrician mentioned her acne and heat rash. He suggested using Cetaphil on her face once a day and gently wiping it off with wet wash cloth. We did that, and then her face got really dry so we started putting Aquaphor on her once she's swaddled for the night. It's really cleared up in the last two weeks.

  • My pedi said to leave it alone, that it gets worse before it gets better.  Stress & heat make it look worse. I left it and it went away...it is completely gone now.

  • Our pediatrician said baby acne peaks between 4-6 weeks and then it gets better. I say it's normal.

  • DD has it bad right now. It is all over her eyes. It looks awful. I plan on putting breast milk on it, I just haven't yet.

  • Yep we have a bad case of acne. It spread all over his ears, scalp, neck, and chest. Nothing you need to do but wait it out. There are things to speed up recovery, but it isn't hurting them at all.

Make an appointment with your pedi to make sure it is acne and not a rash or something else just to be safe. I just use water and clean cotton balls to wash his face daily and it has slowly been clearing up.

Attached is a picture of the acne really inflamed.
  • Looks a little like year rash to me. My LO has acne too. I found that the aveeno lotion wash has helped it form flaring up. I tried three different soaps prior to the aveeno before this worked. Maybe switch up your bath products?!
