Decorating for the Holidays!

Who has started, who hasn't and when do you plan to?

Do you plan alot of decorations or maybe one to two things?

What is your favorate decoration?

We haven't started and I probably won't put up our tree until the next weekend in December.    I have a small snowman that sits outside but that is the only outside decoration we have.   I have a tree and lots of ornaments.   I will put our holiday candles and perhaps some garland oh and I have a wreath for the front door.  My favorate decoration is the fake mistletoe!

Re: Decorating for the Holidays!

  • I have the town of little houses set up, the nativity scene (pasty redhead Jesus!), the mantle garland, and two trees. One is fully decorated, the other is halfway done. This has taken me two weekends, which is why I started last weekend. I'll finish the second tree this week, then next weekend are the chandeliers and all the miscellaneous items.

My favorite decoration is our big tree. It's flocked and this year it has all blue and silver ornaments. It is gorgeous!

  • I wish we would have started but my husband insists we not decorate until after Thanksgiving so we normally do it the weekend right after. He does the outside lights and decorations and I do the inside decorations. We put up a tree and decorate it, stockings, and lots of knick knacks. I love it!

  • We'll probably start after Thanksgiving. We do a tree with a ton of ornaments and colored lights. All the ornaments are fun and special to us.
We also do lights in the front window. None outside though. We have a nativity that DD1 like to set up. One year the Disney Princesses were at the birth of Jesus.
Oh and garland and lights on the stair rails.

  • We actually put up our outside decorations yesterday! Lights and bows and wreath.

We decorate in and out. Small and simple. Nothing crazy.

I have this small tin candle I made in 3rd grade. We got to choose a pattern (I chose a candy cane) and we poked holes in the can and put a tea light in it and when you light it it shines that pattern. I've loved it all these years! Not sure why..but I do!
  • We always decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving, so things will start going up this weekend. I don't have much but enough for every room to have something little in it to remind us of the holiday. I keep growing my outside lights and even put a new outlet in outside so I could add more! nothing crazy just covering all of our hedges with lights.
I have a dreamsicle nativity set that I love having up and this is the first year without my grandpa so I am going to put up the train he wanted DD to have after he passed.

  • This is the extent of my holiday decorating. The menorah is really pretty on the 8th night with all the candles burning.

  • We're going to get a tree on Wednesday, December 11.  We're planning to decorate that Friday and Saturday!
  • @SJandVA LOL at the princesses at the birth of Jesus!!! C would totally do that. Also, we are sending S a letter at some point this week complete with C's school photo and other assorted drawings.

We put up our outside lights and outdoor village this past weekend. We host an annual Christmas party and DH gets very overwhelmed when we have a ton to do all at once so he suggested we do the outside this past weekend, the inside and tree this weekend starting Black Friday so that way we are all set for the party the following Saturday.

We decorate a lot. I LOVE Christmas. I love our colorful tree with random ornaments. I also love our snowglobe Nativity scene that lights up and plays music. We have a traditional one too so that way baby Jesus isn't out until his birthday.
