First of all, I wanted to say THANK YOU for all the suggestions and positive vibes last week you girls sent me while I was laboring at home- I def needed it!
So, I started laboring at home Sunday night/ Monday morning. At first the contractions were nbd but they slowly got worse and worse. Had a dr apt Monday morning, I was only a fingertip dilated. Said that when the contractions were so bad I couldn't talk through them, call them. Went on that way through Monday night into Tuesday morning. Tuesday they were getting really bad, went back to doc, now only 2 cm. sent me home. By Tuesday night I was in such bad pain I had had it and decided I was going to labor and delivery I didn't care what they said lol. I was five cm and they admitted me at 10:30. I labored all night without an epi (I had planned a natural birth), walking the halls, using the birth ball, bathtub, etc. By 8 the next morning I couldn't take it anymore... I was still 7 cm and I had to give in and get the epi ( which took a million tries... I have so many bruises on my back it's not funny!). I'll tell you, It worked a little but not as much as I thought it would! By 3 I was still only 9 cm and change and there was this lip that they couldn't even get to dilate w pitocin so my dr decided I was going to push through it. Was not fun! My pulse sped up and so did the baby's and I spiked a fever so they thought I had an infection from when they broke my water a few hrs before that. Things for hectic really fast and all these pediatrician a were in the room. I pushed for two hours and she finally came out... But they took her right away to the nicu. She stayed there our whole hospital stay being checked for infection (which neither of us ended up having) and leveling her blood sugar. We are home now though and happy!
