Hear ye, hear ye! The A14 book club is now called to order!
Seriously, I'm so glad there is an interest! Hoping this will be fun for us!
First, a vote.
I'll post all the book suggestions (Twilight and 50 Shades gracefully excluded ) in their own posts below. Whichever gets the most "love its" will be the book we read in December. Fair enough? I'll keep the vote open from posting until Wednesday at 9:00 pm PST. Vote as often as you like. We can then declare a winner and get to reading!
Note: Please wait to reply until all the books are posted, to avoid any getting missed. There are eleven of them.
Next, some organization.
You don't need to have replied to the book club interest thread to participate! Anyone can participate at any time.
It seems like the consensus is about a month to read, and with all the holidays this month I think that's a good time frame. We can discuss the book the week of December 29th. Which brings us to how to discuss:
The only chat site I'm familiar with is Chatzy, which I understand has a ten person limit for free rooms. Also, given that we have lots of different time zones represented on this board, I think discussing in threads is best. To keep the convo interesting I (or a partner in crime) can post a thread with a few questions each day from Sunday to Saturday. People can jump in where they like, and discuss away. I can look up discussion questions online, use my English Lit teacher background to come up with my own, and people can PM me questions as well. This is the best way I can think of to handle it, but if anyone has a better suggestion I'm open!
We can vote on a new book once the discussions begin and start a new suggestions thread.
FYI: I am not proprietary about this club at all! Anyone is free to discuss or post questions at any time. I just like organizing clubs, but have no interest in being a dictator. This is our club! My ideas for organization are just suggestions, if any one thinks there's a way to do it better, I'm all ears.
Happy reading ladies!

Yeah, I gotta say the cheap aspect of it is really testing my real book bias! I may go over to the dark side for just that reason.
This is exactly me!

If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, I will answer you:
@irisheyez7 IMO it is. I still buy books by the armful because I love the feel, smell, heft, and tactile experience of a real book, but I love Kindle when I go on trips. I used to take 5-9 books with me anytime we were gone for more than two days, because I never knew what kind of a mood would strike me. With kindle I'm not hauling around my own bodyweight in books, and I can buy a new book on the road without having to hunt down a store. I can't speak for the mom convenience, but I imagine being able to push a button instead of flipping pages has got to be easier while nursing.
