I had my appointment today. I really like my MFM doctor. She was wonderful. We went over my charts and Parker's charts. She said that 1/3 of my placenta had clots on it and that's what caused us to lose Parker. She also did a lot of blood work and wanted medical history on anyone blood related to us. This appointment was so she could meet me and get a baseline of where I am before I get pregnant. It makes me feel better to know I will be closely monitored. I would suggest anyone on this board meeting with MFM prior to getting pregnant again. It helped ease my mind.
I did get a little upset in her office talking about everything. With the holidays approaching and my original EDD at the end of the week, there are a ton of emotions starting to bubble up.
Re: MFM Appointment
We needed a referral to see an MFM, and I think you do for most insurances since it's a specialist. We have Tricare and need a referral for every.single.thing, though, so I'm just used to needing a referral before I see anyone other than my PCP. Even though I don't have a super high risk of another abruption, I do have an elevated risk, so I'm also high risk and see both my MFM and OB.
I'm glad you got some answers and are having lots of things done to help prepare for your next pregnancy. I'm sure this has all been very hard to handle, but again, I'm so glad your MFM is being proactive. **hugs**
