February 2014 Moms

Oh for f*** sake already!

I'm going to wine a lil bit (feel free to back out now lol) so as if I don't have enough going on w this pregnancy NOW I'm dropping protein in my urine! Ugh my bp has always ran low, actually in the hospital the other week it was 80/55 they were kinda freaked at how low it was.... Anyways I'm hoping that I'm not showing this A-typical type pre-E like I did w my daughter be cause I really just can't deal w feeling like a medical freak show anymore. Ok rant over... Wait now in room for doc to come back after talking to see what he thinks says...

  • I'm in the same boat. I just posted about this on the pre-e thread since I wasn't sure where it would fit in with current discussion. Long story short, everything else is normal/no signs of pre-e, but I've had the protein thing on and off since week 25. Sometimes clean catches with no protein, sometimes high protein, both the 24 hour tests I've done have come back with protein. I guess my OB said the same thing your did, we will just monitor. So weekly appointments :-/

I guess, we've got no choice, right?!?!  If you don't mind me asking, did this just carry on being monitored with your DD and you were able to go into labor naturally, or did they end up inducing you early?

W my dd my bp never was the concern, it was the low platletts, I was down to 100, the 4+ protien and the swelling.... I did not have to be induced BUT I delivered at 35 weeks ( not sure if u know but I had all 4 kiddos sofar at 35weeks) the monitoring started around 31 weeks w dd so it's hard to say what woulda happened. She was right around 6lbs and had no breathing issues and bf like a champ so she wasent neg effected by the abnormal results I had... I know that one of the concerns w pre-e is babies being small because the bp effects the placenta and its productivity... I had a friend w borderline high bp was induced at 37+ weeks and ellie was 3lbs 5oz! Tiny little thing. After all test results it was concluded that the bp was what did it... So it's def a good thing to keep an eye on... Not to mention all the things it can do to mama, seizures etc

Glad to hear your BP is stable, I hope your platlettes do not drop any further.

I would like some wine too :-)

Awww, 4! So awesome! I'm gad to hear your DD was born healthy, I assume your other LOs were as well. :-) Thank you so much for sharing. I've ben googling but haven't come across much anecdotal or otherwise to help me think about how things may turn out.

I hope your monitoring keeps giving you good news and the LO stays healthy and strong!

Yep all 4 were healthy 6-7lbs :) no extra care needed...

I hope you keep things in line as long as possible and don't end up having to be induced..
  • Sorry you have to deal with this and glad they are watching it. I had a similar issue with my DD2 last year toward the end and had to do 24 hr urine at least twice, total PITA. They talked about induction but I ended up mellowing out and then she came at 37 weeks on her own at 7 1bs 10 oz! Fx everything continues smoothly for you. I totally understand being a medical freak show and being completely over it!

  • I just did a 24 hour urine collection on Friday. I don't put the jug in the fridge, I put it in a bucket of ice water with a towel over it!

  • Protein can also be a sign of GD - have you had the glucose test yet?
  • I am really sorry. I hope that all turns out well with no pre-e for you!

No actually we talked about this today, I asked because I couldn't take it when I was scheduled to because I had the beta shots for the lungs and they want u wait 2 weeks after last shot because it can give u a false pos... I had it with my DS3, false pos from the shot. So I was supposed to reschedule BUT just had another round of the shots when I was in the hospital last week. I have to wait, which thank you actually for bringing it up because we got side tracked talking about my blood work and never went back to it! I got call and ask nurse what they want me to do. I have never heard its relation to GD thou! The more you know :)

    Edit: DS 3 not dd

That's a nice size baby :) and pita is putting it lightly lol... I would get in the bathroom have to yell to one of the kids to grab the bucket because I forgot and it was alot of work to get back up off the toliet lol! I was a lazy woman
  • The lab didn't give me the little "hat" as we call it to put under the lid to catch the pee. I had to designate a pee cup and keep reusing it. Fun stuff.
