  Definitely not too much.
  
  Strange to plan a second Thanksgiving 20 minutes away...  I mean, I'm all about sharing the work so doubling the amount of cooking, etc., is crazy to me.

  Wait, I don't get it.  Were you not invited to BIL's?  And I feel you on the toy.  My ILs (and I love them, don't get me wrong) show up like Santa Claus every time we see them, which is probably once a month so it's a lot of stuff lol

  Why would she do that?! Why ? Why? Why? So stupid not to just have the whole family together unless there are family divisions between y'all and BIL? And she had planned to come to your house all along?

  NO @elmoali WE ARE NOT INVITED TO THEIR DINNER!!!

  She e-mailed me some passive aggressive ish about "misunderstanding" (it was in quotes when she sent it) me when I said my aunt and uncle were coming to Thanksgiving (driving down from Virginia). Apparently to her, the fact that my family is coming means that she and her family are not invited...she planned this alternative Thanksgiving without telling me or H, until I e-mailed her asking who and what she was bringing...

  In regards to Thanksgiving, I must have "misunderstood" you last week when you mentioned that your Thanksgiving was going to be at your Mom's or your house, since some of your Mom's family was coming.  Sorry my bad.... I spoke to Jim and he decided it would be at his house and Mike, Carole and Aleksandra have been invited to his house.  I'm sorry and hope you're not upset!!!

  Ugh, I hate that! Sorry you are having to deal with all this. I love my ILs, and we get along great, but my SIL (DH's sister) has similar IL issues so I can totally understand. Some people are just plain nuts. It's her loss, I'm sure your thanksgiving is going to be awesome!
  
  P.S. I want to see a pic of this beautiful thanksgiving table!! Our thanksgiving was over a month ago and now I have to wait until Christmas for more festivities. I need some inspiration to get in the spirit

  I feel your pain. My MIL demands Thanksgiving every year but then tries to back us into a corner to give her Christmas too.  It's like clockwork. Every. Stinking. Year. 

  
  

  It's hard on me too because my parents side is soooo small. Literally everyone has passed away too early or my dad's side is Jehovah's Witness so they obviously don't celebrate. It's mom, dad, brother, and one cousin's family, and one grandparent.  That's it on my mom's side. So if me and my husband aren't there it's like way smaller.  MIL has four children all with grandchildren and a great grandchild even now.  Totaling 12 grandkids not including my LO.  She has a full house on the holidays.  Holiday's for my mom are depressing and I just want to try to make it less depressing by being there, and yet she still stomps her foot and demands us on holidays.  Irks the hell out of me. But to keep the peace we've decided Thanksgiving is hers and for the first year (we'll see how this goes over) Christmas is my family's...

  as requested, here's my table (so far, don't mind the swing) and I have mis-matched China - my mom adds a place setting every Christmas - the last picture is Bradley's setting (he LOVES yellow)

  Setting the table is an awesome touch. Normally I'd piss and moan about my MIL too, but DH gets thanksgiving and I get Easter. Boo
