Cleaning floors - nbr

We have hardwood floors everywhere in the apartment (except linoleum in the kitchen) and now that LO is going to be more mobile, I am getting more OCD about keeping them clean. It's easy enough to vacuum, but mopping the entire apartment is a huge pain and I have a hard time doing it while wearing LO. So, my question is does anyone have any of those steam mop type things? Do they work? Is there a brand that is good but not too pricey? TIA

  • I second @Steamboat1679 - you're not really supposed to use steam mops on hardwoods.

We just got our hardwoods refinished in our new place, and we were told that the only thing you should use to clean them is vinegar and water.  That's all I've ever done in the past with laminate floors, so I'll continue to do that with our hardwoods!

  • I have a Shark Steam mop and its AWFUL, completely useless aside from the fact that you aren't supposed to use it on wood floors.  You can also use Murphy's Oil soap on wood floors (and leather).  IMHO, floors don't need to be eat off of them clean just because you have a healthy child crawling around on them.
  • Do you do 1 part vinegar 3 parts water in a bucket? How do you do it?

  • I love my shark.  I highly recommend them.  PLUS you're cleaning with steam. So no chemicals disinfecting the floor it's a natural disinfectant.
  • Thanks everyone!
