Huggies

I just bought 2 boxes of huggies for my 17 week old and this last week, every day I have to change his clothes around twice a day because the diaper leaks poop and pee. I'm at my wits end and don't know what to do. Should I try selling it and getting a different company? He's been wearing huggies since he's born and just started doing this regularly recently.

Re: Huggies

  • I was having the same issues with leaking pee earlier on with my LO.  I read somewhere online Huggies for girls and Pampers for boys.  So, when we ran out of our giant box, I bought some Pampers and they sure do seem to contain things better.  I'm not sure why there is a difference, but it might be worth a try.

  • Pampers only for my LO. I bought one box of Huggies and that was the only box I would ever buy. I do like their Natural Wipes better than Pampers though. I would see if you can exchange the un-opened box from the store you bought it at. If you can't then try to sell them and if you haven't used that much out of the opened box you could try to sell those too.

  • I had the same issue with Huggies.  We only use Pampers in our house.  He seems to not have any leaks.  I  believe you can return them to the store you bought them from.  We also had bad luck with Luvs. He seemed to soak through them really fast and would wake him up right away.
  • Same issues with Huggies. We just tossed them and now only use pampers.

  • Thanx for all the advice. I just bought pampers baby dry and when I changed him out, he had a thin line of blood from a cut that I think came from the diaper. Has anyone had this happen? He didn't leak though :)
  • We had bad luck with baby dry so if those don't work for you either I would try pampers swaddlers.  They are our favorite.

This. I tried Huggies once, I only used one diaper out of the pack and it fit LO terribly, we tossed the rest.

  • No experience with the baby dry.  Was it like a paper cut?  I use swaddlers too and love them.

  • We got two big boxes of Huggies in my baby shower, one for newborn and the other one size 1.  I tried using them, but they always leak pee/poop.  I ended up giving them to charity.

    As for the blood line...
My baby had some issues, where he had blood in his stool.  After going to his ped, we were told he has some dairy intolerance :( not to  my breast milk, but to the dairy I consume.  So, I had to stop drinking milk, eating cheese, eggs, yogurt, and anything containing dairy.  However, after some experimenting on my part ( I love dairy and it proved difficult to give it up), my baby is only affected when I only have milk.  I can have ice cream or yogurt, but cannot have a glass of milk or milk with my cereal.
If you see more blood in his diaper, just call the pediatrician and ask for her/his advice.  Better to be safe than sorry.

  • Thank you, yes it was like a paper cut, I tried another diaper overnight and it was fine. I'm just going to keep an eagle eye on it.
  • I have the same problem with Huggies. I used them with a little girl I used to nanny, but my daughter leaks almost every time we use them on her. Pampers and Luvs are the best I've found. I tried some store brands and had the same leaking problems. Oh, and if you receive Huggies as gifts at baby showers you can always take them to Walmart and trade them out for a different brand. That's what I had to do.
