Packing for lo

So I'm packing for lo and am afraid I'm going to forget something- so...

Those of you who have traveled with lo: what did you forget that you wish you had?? Or what were you really glad you brought?

Thanks!

Re: Packing for lo

  • I was glad I brought plastic shopping bags to put Joseph dirty clothes in...and I wish I brought more burp cloths...he spits up a lot lol.

  • Alcohol.
Other than that my travel staple is a bunch of big lightweight receiving blankets stuffed in several handy locations. You never know when you are going to have to make a surface a play space or a changing area! And hand wipes. I feel like hand sanitizer rubs the dirt around so I like individually wrapped wipes that I keep in my pockets!

  • Anything to best recreate sleeping at home - white noise, pjs, something that smells like home. Lots of burp cloths if your baby is a spitter. Toys for the plane. Anything familiar from home to make the transition easier.

  • Traveling by car or plane? Long trip?
  • @funkyphoenix - Plane, 6 hr flight, staying for a week.

  • And bring lots of prayers for sleep. My LO was in the sleep regression at home but only waking once or twice and going back down within 30 min-an hour. Now that we're traveling she's refusing to be put down to sleep at all. So lots of prayers!

OMG I hope this doesn't happen! :( I'm so sorry!!

  • Paci wipes. And general wipes. I'm not particularly germaphobic but when Colton started touching the tray and the screen (JetBlue) then eating his hands I freaked a little. On our way back as soon as we sat down I gave all the reachable surface area a quick wipe before Colton started trying to lick the nob that opens the tray.
    Good luck !

  • I wouldn't worry about the sound machine. There are plenty of white noise apps you can download on your phone if its necessary. I like what the pp said about plenty of blankets (A+A ones pack so well), plus a couple familiar toys. You could even untie the kick and play mat and roll it up to bring. A carrier for sure.
  • My wrap so I could wear her and the A and A blankets saved my vacation. Also, I agree with what pp said, anything that you need to recreate his sleep environment.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Pack at least one change of clothes for both of you in your carry on.

  • So glad you posted this! We leave for LA tomorrow and I was just starting my list
Lilypie Fifth Birthday tickersLilypie Second Birthday tickers Lilypie Pregnancy tickers
  • Ziplock bags! To hold pacis or poop clothes or poopie diapers or whatever!!

I would also pack your thermometer (just in case). You can pick up meds if you need to on the mainland, but bringing the thermometer will give you peace of mind.

A travel-sized Lanolin in case the change of atmosphere/weather upsets his skin.

Have fun and take lots of pictures!!

  • Digital baby thermometer. I forgot ours on my last trip and had to go buy one, because of course LO got her first cold. We have a tiny rectal thermometer so it doesn't take up much room.
