Would you prefer storage space or counter space in a laundry room?

We are buying new appliances and trying to determine the best new config. We could add a counter and shelving above or possibly stack them and add cupboards/storage to the side. Fwiw, storage is critical as we don't have much space. TIA!!!

After measuring last night, we will have to go for a counter with an upper cabinet and shelving. Thanks for the input!
