I have an odd problem. I have a 16 month old. Had her when I was 37. My whole pregnancy, I gained a whopping 4 lbs. and she was a little over 6 lbs and perfectly healthy. I'm due in May with #2, and it appears the same thing is happening. Last time I lost 11 lbs the first trimester. This time I lost 6. And neither time have I had morning sickness. My OB tells me not to worry, the baby is healthy and growing, but to do whatever I can to gain weight. Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas how to gain weight?? (BTW, this is so not an issue when I'm not preggers!!). Last time I resorted to bacon cheese fries and ding dongs and spent the whole time apologizing to the Bun for feeding her crap!
Re: Trouble gaining weight?

Tried that last time and just kept losing weight. Part of the problem was fiber. Not to be too gross, but my body was and is super-sensitive to fiber. In my normal, non-pregnant life, I eat a very healthy, very high fiber diet. It's hard to find healthy foods that are not high in fiber!
no I cannot relate! Wish I could, well sort of... I know any issue with food/weight is an entirely different ball game while pregnant. Just curious are you a heavish woman? If the dr is not concerned why are you? I would LOVE if I didn't gain quite so much as long as the baby was growing and healthy. Your fetus gets the nutrients from foods first then you so any deficiencies are in your body not the child. Are you taking a high quality prenatal vitamin?
I would use whole fat butter, sourcream, dairy products to up the calorie and fat intake and try the shakes/ supplements as suggested. High fat foods alone aren't the answer, but not having to use 1% milk on my cereal, in cooking, etc. would be wonderful to me!
Best wishes for a healthy baby and mom!
