Only my child...

Would have her chart marked as being a difficult baby before she is even born! Yeah the midwife that I had today was having a hard time getting her heartbeat and she says "well I guess the chart is right, she is a difficult baby". This is super funny on one hand but on the other it is kinda embarrassing. Also, I believe that they have her name listed as spunky on my chart because everytime I go in they ask how spunky is doing.

Anyone else out there with a "difficult" baby?

Re: Only my child...

  • I'm not sure if I would classify my child completely as difficult but mine does run away from the nurses when they try to listen to the heartbeat. Baby also loves to kick my in the ribs and other organs. It's so much fun!

  • Yeah, yours is most definitely not the only difficult child around here...

I needed two NT ultrasounds and two anatomy scans because he would not cooperate. He kicks the doppler and moves away from it every time I've needed monitoring, so it needs to be repositioned frequently.

I actually think that difficult babies are more common than the other way around.
  • LO always has her hands in her face and will refuse to move them- the techs say she's camera shy.

  • I agree with @peanutmuse that there are probably more difficult babies than easy babies.
All of my babies have had to have internal monitors during labor early because they will not stay in one location to have the monitors trace them effectively.
  • My LO is definitely stubborn already!

  • My LO likes to push/kick wherever the transducer is during an ultrasound. It makes it hard to get certain measurements. Then they'll go try to get a different measurement and he'll block that one too if they're not quick enough.

  • My son is in the nicu right now and they put him in a room alone because he doesn't like other babies getting attention, I completely understand ha.

  • My baby moves from the monitor, hides his face, shows his junk on every possible occasion, and generally makes things more complicated. Yea, me! I feel like I need to look at living near a juvenile detention center...

January Siggy Challenge: When I am done breastfeeding...

  • I have a lazy baby... Doesn't move around a lot (Dr says all's healthy and I even did a NST a week ago b/c I had a minor freak out), cooperates for u/s, doppler etc, so I hope that means he'll be a chill baby!  He always stops moving when I have DH feel, so maybe that means a momma's boy :)

  • SO said LO got his shyness from the way she hides her face and burrow into my hips whenever we had an u/s. We had a hard time figuring out what she was because she wouldn't open her legs and when I told my dad that..he said she's seems smarter than you... Jerk!

Same here. My little guy always hides his face behind his hands. But from the beginning he's had no problem showing off his boy parts. They are all always so proud of their penises. Apparently that starts in the womb.
  • Well, if it makes you feel any better, my little man is measuring 6lbs 12 oz... and I am at 33 weeks. Yes, he is massive! I have DH to blame because he was a big baby!! (My GD test was perfect, so they have ruled that out!) So he isn't difficult and has been very cooperative for the US tech each week for his BPP... but he is just a very very big boy... with lots of cooking time left! EEEEK!!!!
  • LO was very difficult in the beginning, now I think she's too big to move away from the doppler fast enough. Lol. My OB always has the same comment on her after the Doppler, "Yep, she's still a strong little thing." It makes me feel good to hear it, and made me feel even better when a nurse id never had before said something similar today. Good knowing that even though I'm having so many problems, I have a healthy and strong little girl fighting inside me!
  • Yea our little rebel is always on the move whenever the doppler comes out.  My OB laughs because he was so squirmy for the last few heartbeat checks that she just said if he's moving that much then he is doing just fine in there!

  • Ladies you all have no idea how much better I feel after reading this thread about your difficult babies too! It makes me feel way less alone in this! I was really stressing about it last night and today I find it rather funny. When I told DH about it last night his response was "well it looks like she is taking after her Mother" - I wanted to be mad at him for that but when I called my Mom and my best friend they both said the same thing so I just I had to take it for what it is. lol
