I'm freaking out...I'm being induced on Wednesday due to baby b's iugr. I'll be 35 1/2 weeks. I know that 35 weeks isn't crazy early and I'm thankful to have made it this far, but I'm so worried. I don't want to leave them in the nicu. My ob is also very pro vaginal delivery since they are both head down and I have older kiddos. I guess that I have a couple of questions. I know all nicus are different, but what is the standard weight for babies to go home (assuming all else is well)? Also, how did your vaginal delivery go if you had a baby with iugr? Google says it could be stressful on baby (scaring me)! Last Thursday, baby b weighed in right under 4 lbs and A measured approx 5.5. I guess I need some positive thoughts, but also just some idea of what to expect. TIA!

The NICU my DS was in didn't have a defined weight to go home. He had to be eating, breathing (without episodes), growing and maintaining his temp. He weighed 4lbs 7oz when we left, and was 35+6 weeks corrected (born at 27).

Also he wasn't technically IUGR, but was under 3lbs at birth and was a vaginal deliver - no complications associated with the delivery, just with his gestation.

My daughter (baby A) was IUGR and weighed 3 lbs 13 oz She needed no help, just feeding & growing. She came home after 8 days (we only left her alone for 2 nights because I had a c-section and was there 5 days.) We took her home when she was 4 lbs 2 oz.

My son (baby

was 5 lbs 9 oz and needed a C-PAP for about 12 hours and had a little jaundice so went under the lights for a day. He came home with us on day 5.

Mine were 34 exact. I had a super rediculously easy vaginal delivery that was so fast and no pain afterward. My NICU just requires them to pass the car seat test no weight minimum. If they are too small they have car beds insurance will pay for to send them home in. My smaller one will be the first to go home he's doing better than my chubby little lazy one

there was no stress on them during delivery and they both arrived safely. The NICU is hard I have cried a lot leaving them there especially because we live 2 hours away and with another little one at home I can't always be there. It sucks a lot but they are in good hands and it's what best for them!

My boys are 34 weekers. They were born via c/s - I was put under general anesthesia due to baby a's prolapsed cord plus he was breech.

They spent 13 days in the NICU as feeders and growers. They never needed any breathing assistance. Also no weight min to come home - they were both a bit over 5lbs when they came home. Just had to pass their car seat test and take all their feedings by breast or bottle (no feeding tube).

Mine were 35w4d. They were born via C/S and didn't have IUGR issued, but they spent 4 days in the NICU, did fine breathing (L just needed oxygen for 2 hours at first) and came home weighing just under 6 lbs and just under 5 lbs. Like PP mentioned, they just needed to pass a carseat test and their weights had to stabilize before they could come home.

Mine were born at 35w5d due to DS deciding it was eviction time. DS was 5lb5oz and was in the NICU for 10 days due to not not wanting to eat. DD was 4lb14oz and went home with us 3 days later.

No problems at birth. DD came home still under 5lb, DS was 5lb1oz when he came home.

Almost 17 months later and still no issues. Happy, healthy, loud babies. :-)
