Holiday Travel

On Tuesday morning we embark on what will be a 12-13 hour road trip to see my family for the holidays.  It was just too expensive to fly and rent a car, since we already have to do that to see my in-laws for Christmas.  I have a bunch of new toys, books, crayons, coloring books, sticker books, and when we get desperate, hours and hours of Dora, Doc McStuffins, and assorted other games and kid fare on the iPad.  And yet, I know it will be a complete and utter disaster, since DD has a hard time sitting still in the car for more than 15 minutes these days.  Anyone else crazy enough to take on this kind of trek for the holidays?

    I'll be praying for you. I hope you wont be going through any bad weather. A friend of mines parents started driving from Kentucky to Texas and half way through had to turn around and drive home it was so bad. 
    I've only ever had to drive with LO a long distance once when she was 8 months old (10 hours). It was for vacation not holidays so we didn't have any holiday traffic. Luckily, we're not going anywhere this year, parents are coming to us. It sounds like you are super prepared and honestly I don't think you could get much more prepared. Just wanted to say good luck and be careful out there! That goes for anyone else traveling this week.

    I'd drive at night at this point with two toddlers so they'd sleep.

    We thought about that but much of our drive is through rural areas where there would be literally no where to stop for bathroom breaks all night long, other than seriously sketchy rest areas that I already hate stopping at during daylight hours!
