Rec your dry shampoo

Pregnancy is making me a grease ball and I'm too lazy to wash and style my hair more than every couple days.

I usually use Kenra but I've been going thru a bottle in less than a month and it's $22 a pop. Anyone have a cheaper version they love??

  • I sometimes use a little bit of cornstarch applied with a make-up brush... you've got to brush it through really well after though, so that it isn't visible.

  • I really like the suave brand. It's only like $3 a bottle. The Dove dry shampoo is good too. I've been a greasy mess too this pregnancy. And I wash my hair everyday.

  • Ditto the Suave dry shampo. It's my favorite thing to travel with so I can not look like a hot mess.

ha if you're lazy now wait until you're taking care of a newborn! :)

When DD was a newborn, daily showers were a must. Between PP bleeding and leaky boobs...yeah...

The difference was I rarely left the house so I didn't care. I just let my hair air dry and never styled it.

Who knows what it will be like with an 18 month old and a newborn. I might just shave my head.

  • I use Dove. I get grease ball hair even when not pregnant (I shampoo every day), so I like it when I have to go somewhere after work.

  • I like Not Your Mothers Shampoo, I think it's $5-$8 a bottle. Suave works well, but I can't stand the smell.

  • I have never found a dry shampoo that worked as well as baby powder. So that's what I use and it is cheap!

  • I really like Tresemme! They have a dry shampoo for curly and straight hair.
  • Another Suave fan!  cheap and it works.

  • I've only ever used Dove's dry shampoo, and I liked it. Smells really good too.

  • I have treseme and don't really like it. Maybe I'm just not using it properly or I use too much? I don't know.

I think every new mom should have a bottle of dry shampoo around. I like this kind https://www.amazon.com/Batiste-Dry-Shampoo-Original-5-05/dp/B000N5S0KE I think you can get it at Walgreens, Walmart, etc

eta: depends on where you buy it, but it's $7-10
Another vote for Batiste.   It comes in different shades, which I like.

I love the Tresemme brand, BUT I do notice that you have to watch how much you put in. My hairdresser told me to separate your hair a bit then spray in small sections. Since doing that, I havent had a problem. :)

I heard Suave and Tressemme (sp?) are good. I use Bed Head and love it. Smells great too.

Edited because I lied... its not Bed Head I use, its Got 2 B Rockin' it.

Same! It smells really good too!
  • Suave here too!  I can't find it in Canada so I always stock up at Target when we go to the States.

  • I love that so many brands make dry shampoos now. i tried the tresseme one and i hated it. showed up way too much in my dark hair and felt icky.  i had the batiste and liked that one much better.

think i'll have to try out the suave or the dove!

This is the one I use, too. It smells pretty nice and works quite well. I've tried a bunch of them and it's my favorite. Another good one is the CVS brand of Tresseme (I feel that it does a better job than the real one).

  • That's exactly what I do!
  • The Susve yellow one. I've tried all the expensive ones. It's by far my favorite and? It's $2.50!

  • I second @calival with Batiste! I've gotten it on clearance at Ulta before for about $3 or $4.  I'm blonde, so I can't vouch for the dark-hair formula, but I absolutely love it. I'm using Loreal right now I think. It's in a purple bottle...but whatever it is, it's alright.  I hated Tresseme, so I got Batiste shortly after and loved it.

  • I've gone through a lot of dry shampoos and I think Big Sexy Hair's Volumizing Dry Shampoo is really good. It doesn't leave any chalky residue and is a bit cheaper than Kenra in stores. Online it's a lot cheaper.
