Ball pit ?

Mira is obsessed with balls and I'm thinking of either making her a ball pit or buying her one. If you have one you like which one is it? Has anyone made one? If so where did you get the balls? They come in packs of 100 or 200 so how many is good? I have a little tent thing and a pack n play so I'm leaning toward making one.
Thanks! This is probably the only thing we can afford to get her so I appreciate any suggestions!

Re: Ball pit ?

  • I've seen the balls at Meijer. I'm thinking of doing one in our baby pool. I would think 100 is sufficient.

  • We have one and Hayden loves it! My DH went a little crazy and we have way too many balls, but i would say don't be mean with the balls, so no less than 200 for sure.

  • You could make one with a kiddie pool. At least 200 balls, it may sound like a lot but 100 doesn't fill up much space.
  • Look at toys r us on black friday. They usually have them pretty cheap. We added an extra 100 balls to what came with it.

  • Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Do you think I could get a deal thru Toys R Us online on Black Friday? DH will most likely have the car and be working.

  • I'll definitely check out the sales on Thursday! I looked on Amazon and it was $43 for 200 balls which seems like a lot to me.

  • We have a kiddie pool filled with balls. We have 100, but need more. Depends on the size of your container. (Cooper's can fit 2 toddlers, or a toddler and a small dog) I got it on clearance at Walmart. Also be prepared to find balls all over your house. TRU has them cheaper online, so you can make the store price match.

  • I got a pack of 100 plastic balls from Walmart this summer for about 12 bucks - I'd check there as well for balls.
  • Toys r us has 100 balls for 17 or 200 for 30. They also have a turtle ball pit for 15 and it comes with 15 balls.

This is what we did.  We have @ 100 balls that we have in a kiddie pool.  Like PPs said their are balls everywhere. We keep ours on our screened in back porch.
  • We use our pack and play. We have 100 balls which cost less than $20. 200 wouldn't be too many though.

  • This is a great idea! I think we're going to do this now too. Finally a use for the pack n play that she never uses!
