Julian is actually asleep, and I'm making myself dinner.  2 AM is dinner time, right?  Entertain me whilst I dine!
GTKY question: What's your LO's favorite unintentional lullaby?
For example, in my sleep-deprived state earlier this evening, I started singing the Jigglypuff song from Pokemon to my screaming baby.  He calmed down almost immediately.  I tried it again later, and it put him to sleep!

Re: MOTN Check-In and GTKY
I sang Its Getting Hot in Herrre one time when she was congested and it has stuck as her favorite song ever to hear.
I sing a "Mommy loves you" song my mom sung to me.
I inadvertently unplugged my headphones the other night will listening to Eminem's Berzerk and he chilled right out.
LO loves anything played on the guitar. We have an acoustic and a stool next to the crib so we can play for him when he is extra fussy. I like playing Dream a Little Dream of Me.
I have yet to sing an actual nursery rhyme. I just make songs up lol.
We sing a random mix of made up songs....I think this babe just likes noise
I have been singing "Silent Night" everyday since DS was born January 2012. Perpetual Christmas over here. DD has a preference for "Soft Kitty".
DD2 is sang a lot of Christmas music. My all time favorite is "Baby it's cold outside" so she gets a lot of that sprinkled with "Santa Claus is coming to town". Oddest song I sang to her as a lullaby would be,
Wait for it,
The thong song.
Mother of the year.
I usually sing Eternal Flame by the Bangles, but his favorite lullaby is the sweet sound of white noise & heavy rainfall on my phone's white noise app. Or the vent hood. The louder & more obnoxious, the better.
I make up songs. We rap everyday even though I'm not a huge fan of rap. I'm not sure what tune I sing it to, but I always sing-- Callie Callie, why you fussin'? Why you fussin'? So far, it calms her down every time.
Eta: I am not a great singer, so I just tell her I'm glad she has no one to compare me to. Of course her dad sings and tells her he's a better singer than me. He's right.
I sing anything that pops in my head and it's usually not a baby somg, but in my exhaustion I can't think of anything:(

Unintentional lullaby... "lucky strike" by maroon5, "royals" lorde, and "hey jude" - the beatles. When we wake up for the day its "dear prudence."
He loves music, we listen to Pandora all the time... Heavenly Children's Lullaby (for bedtime/naptime only), Michael Buble and Disney are his favorite stations. Yesterday on our never-ending road trip we listened to Christmas music on the way home and I was singing that to him and he loved it... Other times I just sing whatever comes to mind. Usually nursery rhyme songs.
I haven't tried any weird songs with her yet, but DS used to calm right down and fall asleep when I put on Nickelback as loud as I could.
My baby girl has her mom's taste in music. Fat Bottom Girls by Queen calms her down every time. It cracks me up that she just goes silent the moment I hit the chorus.
Her daddy loves to sing to her and his favorite is "Rock Your Body" by Justin when he's rocking her, except he changes the words to make them baby-centric and less pervy to be singing to a child. Cracks me up!
I don't sing to her much yet, mostly I tell her stories and talk to her. When she transitions to her own room (as soon as oxygen equipment is out bc it makes it about a thousand degrees in there) I'll put in a CD player so we can play her music at bedtime.
I don't truly know all the words to lullabies and would much rather have him listen to real music but I will make up my own songs and use lullaby structure as well.
Cruise by Flirida Georgia Line seems to hold her attention right now.
Ds hears Christmas music more than anything right now.
I have no lullaby that is odd. She likes ocean waves.
I play George Strait all the time, he seems to like it. When he's getting his diaper changed in his nursery, we play lullabies (ususlly rock a bye baby) and he immediately stops fussing.
We do lullabys and when he bores I go to Christmas songs.
As for lullabies - Build me up (buttercup) and what ever song I make up usually complaining that she should be sleeping but she us not. She's not a huge fan nothing that causes instant sleep, it could be because I'm truly an awful singer. Oh well I try.
GTKY - I usually sing 'Disarm' by Smashinf Pumpkins or 'She Talks to Angels' by the Black Crowes.
