Turning a breech baby

STM anyone have luck turning a breech baby. I'm 31 weeks the Dr.s are talking about inducing for IUGR around 37 weeks at the latest. She's breech so that sends me to C section land which I really don't want. Any advice?

Re: Turning a breech baby

  • Try spinningbabies.com. There's a lot of tips and exercises on there on getting a baby to turn in to position.

  • I know it doesn't seem like it, but still plenty of time for baby to flip. I swear this baby moves all around from head down to transverse and back again.

  • Mine is still flipping numerous times a day, and I am at 34 weeks. No need to panic yet.

  • It's really hard to do this bit try not to worry about it until 35 weeks. There is a lot of time until your 37th week and the baby will be flipping around even if you tried flipping them now. I'm almost 33 weeks and last tues baby was breech and fri she was head down. I would pay here to stay head down but she probably will flip again a time or two before I deliver.

  • I had a girlfriend go to a chiropractor.  Her baby flipped so I'd give that a shot.
  • I agree that you still have a lot of time for LO to flip around and get into a head down position. But when it does get closer to delivery time and if LO is still breeched, spinning babies, a chiropractor appointment, and acupuncture are all known to possibly assist in turning things around.

  • thanks ladies I'll but that worry on the back burne until after Christmas...
  • Mine is consistently breech at 32 weeks, but definitely I won't worry yet.  However:

There is zero evidence that spinningbabies or chiropractic can turn babies.  Many women believe it does only because the baby turned on its own after "treatment."  Most babies turn on their own anyway, so there's no need to waste money on it.

The only thing that can turn a baby who doesn't want to turn is a cephalic version, best performed by a doctor or midwife immediately before delivery.  What many doctors do with a breech is wait until term or near term, try to turn the baby, then immediately induce labor if the version is successful.  If the baby refuses to turn, do the section.

Still, this is all a hypothetical for now.
  • My last DD was breech at my 36 week appt and by 37 weeks when I had to be induced with her she was head down and exactly where she needed to be.
I know its hard to not start thinking c-section but she's still got room and time to move where she needs to go.
