No bathtub in the house...anyone else?

I have a one bathroom house that only has a shower...no bathtub. Anyone else have this issue? I know the baby will use a baby bathtub in the beginning but wondering what I'll do when it gets a little bigger. Suggestions please if anyone else has kids and is in this situation. Thanks!!

I'm a FTM but we saw this at BRU last week and thought it would come in handy for times when a tub wasn't available:

They have similar ones that aren't ducks as well.

  • DS who is two loves taking a shower with one of us. So once they are too big for the baby bath you could always take a shower with them.
  • I just purchased an inflatable safety tub! :) I also have no tub!

  • We have a bathtub, but once the baby can sit up, I totally bring baby in the shower with me. Might be difficult if it's a small shower stall, but it could be done. We also have a baby-size plastic tub that sits on our sink counter that we use until baby is big enough to sit up... also transition to the bathtub by putting that plastic tub in the bathtub.
  • We have a bathtub but we bathed DD in the kitchen sink until she was 6 months and could sit up. DH grew up without a tub. His parents would hold him and bring him in the shower with one of them. Doesn't sound too safe though, babies are very slippery.

  • I have pictures of me getting a bath in the kitchen sink when I was little and we had a tub. Lol
  • We just had a real tub put in a few months ago.  Before that, our son was first bathed in a baby tub in the kitchen sink, then the sink itself, then the inflatable duck bathtub.

  • You can buy a bumbo and bring the baby in the shower with you so you don't risk dropping the slippery baby. It helps if you have a handheld shower head too. DS is now a year and a half and loves taking showers with me.
  • We do have a tub, but the bottom of it is kinda gross and needs to be replaced. We don't use that bathroom except to well, go to the bathroom (it's just the guest bathroom). Our bathroom off the master bedroom is just a standing shower. What I think we are going to do is either bath in the sink (although we have a double sink and its set up a little funny..) or put a "baby tub" in our tub and just do that, which might just be easier for us.

  • I was going to suggest the sink route, followed by duckie, followed by showers.

@jjh471 I just put the baby tub in our guest tub. It was easier to just pull the plug than lift the thing...plus once he started splashing it was contained. Reg tub from there to sometimes throwing a shower in the mix.

Thanks for the tip! I think that's what we will do. :) Just easier!

we have a tub, but just found it easier to take DD in the shower from about 2 months - 7/8 months or so. Then we started using the big tub bc she could sit up and liked to splash and play with her toys. And as long as you were paying attention, I never found her too slippery!

  • Me!!!! All that we have is a TINY one person shower stall that I know in going to outgrow during this pregnancy. It genuinely concerns me....
  • We do not have a tub either! We decided to not put one in since we plan on moving... And now my son is 1 . He does great in his inflatable duck for now! Haha
  • For when my sister has her twins at my parents house (which has no tub) they bought a big rubbermaid container that is almost the size of a bathtub. It's very sturdy plastic (it could probably fit a fake Christmas tree). They hook a hose thing up to the kitchen sink to fill it and bathe the boys in the kitchen. It's might not be a great all the time solution, but it works for bathing them when they are there a few times a month.
