James Atticus arrived in wild fashion right on his due date of November 21, 2013 at 6:40 in the evening.
I woke up Thursday morning and started having contractions around 6:30 am. I went along with my day because I knew after having my daughter that I was in for a long process. With DD I was in labor for 3 days. Around lunchtime I decided to call my Drs office to just check in and was told to come in after lunch to get checked.
DH and I went to the office around 2pm was hooked up to the monitors and checked and was told I was 3 cm dilated. Was told it would be best to go back home for a little while and when the contractions got stronger to call back and either get re-checked at the office or go straight to the hospital depending on the hour of the day. We went back home, hung out with DD, had lunch and all the while my contractions were getting bad but still bearable.
Around 5:30 I decided to call back because it was getting painful. Was told to come to the office since they were still doing office hours. After somehow managing to get through the worlds most excruciating car ride EVER we were about to arrive at the Drs office. I threw up in the car, luckily I remembered to bring a bag just in case. I knew we weren’t going home this time. Transition labor had started. I somehow got out of the car and went into the office to get checked.
I lucked out at had my own Dr, who delivered DD and I LOVE her. She checked me, told me I was 8-9 cm and that I had to get to the hospital right away. She said “you aren’t going to have this baby right now but you need to get there right away.” Luckily for us the hospital is only 5 mins from the office. I again somehow managed to get back in the car.
We turned left out of the office and I had the contraction to end all contractions. In that split second my water broke and this baby was coming. We were never making it to the hospital. I told DH he needed to turn back around we had to go back to the Drs office because the baby was coming.
DH turned the car around we pulled into the office. He jumped out of the car and went and got someone to help me. I was escorted back into the office and into an exam room and within less than 5 minutes and 3 pushes James Atticus was born in my DRS office by the most wonderful doctor put on God’s green earth. She and the staff were AMAZING!!!!! Not once, during the whole terrifying experience did I feel unsafe. I knew I was in the best of hands, even though we weren’t at the hospital. I got my doctor to deliver me again, I had the natural birth I wanted, just not in the fashion I was expecting.
Instead of heading to the hospital with DH in our Honda Pilot with Baby Geeps still inside of me I got a free ride in an ambulance from the wonderful members of the Volunteer EMS Squad with Jimmy in my arms and alarms blazing. As those that know me IRL know I HATE attention so this was beyond mortifying for me. We were admitted to the ER, got checked out and then brought up to the Post Partum floor.
We are both happy, healthy and happy to be home! This kid already shaved a few years off my life lol

. It will be a day I will never forget that's for sure lol. We think he's pretty cute but I know we are very partial. Had his first visit with the pediatrician and he is doing great so alls well that ends well.
Sending lots of luck to all of you with time left to cook. Enjoy every moment because it goes by in a flash, at least with this pregnancy it did with me.
I'll check back in on all of you from time to time to see how you are doing. You have been an amazing bunch of women and I am so very grateful for all of you. Other boards are not as supportive and friendly as ours and I always felt I could ask or answer anything and no snark would come of it.
Much appreciation for all your kind words
