bikini twist? (small diapers)

Sorry - I'm just reading and watching YouTube videos on how to fold prefolds (just finished washing my stash, practicing on a stuffed animal).  Does the bikini twist really work?  Seems like you'd have a lot of leaks out of the sides.


I got some Osocozy infant Better Fits (returned most after opening one pack - got the regular sized ones, as I can't imagine trifolding on a newborn is a good idea at all!) - so I'm trying to come up with folds that will work on a shorter diaper, and the bikini twist seems like it would work, but it doesn't look much better than just trifolding.

With my regulars, I think I'm going with the jelly roll.

    I don't like bikini twist for NB's since NB's poop, a lot.

    Bikini Twist and Jellyroll were my go-to folds for DD when she was a nb.

    Huh, maybe I"m doing it wrong, but poop got everywhere with it. Jelly roll was nice though as is angle wing.

    I tried bikini twist with D around 8 weeks.  While it fit well & was really trim and actually it did keep the poo in, it was a PITA to spray.  Not that you have to spray NB poo.  I just did sometimes. 

    My fav fold back then was newspaper with a jellyroll.  Now that MK has blown my mind with the reverse newspaper, I think I'd do that with jellyroll.

    You can do whatever you like! Just try it and see what fits. I can never remember exactly how to do each fold, so we've had some creative attempts.

    For nb I loved the bikini twist because the prefold was still a little big. It didn't take long to prefer the angel wing. Finally i went to the jelly roll before I had to move up to the small size. I went through the same steps with the smalls. I just moved up to mediums last week and we are using bikini twist again because they are so big!
