@sooner I never once hated on you this entire thread, just so we are clear. However if you really want to know, most of your posts make me say:
To answer your question, no I do not think that my wage represents the level and quality of work that I do. We live in a broken system of greedy corporate assholes, clearly evidenced by the amount of bumpies on this board jokingly jumping forward to be your nanny.
Oh and baby101010 has been around for a long time.
Yeah, I still don't understand how a "broken system of corporate assholes" makes it obscene/atrocious that a nanny makes a similar salary to you...
But yeah, I am pretty much done trying to understand your posts, especially since you don't read mine

I have always been curious if anyone really does dislike me. There has to be someone who seriously can't stand me. Somebody? Anybody? Weirdly enough I will feel loved if someone actually does hate me lol

I hate that I can't always tell when people are joking in this thread. I don't remember the disagreements that people have had.
I'm not sure but I'm fairly certain t3hkay does not really think quartermisses is a bitch. And taylormarie and tmccord are cool with each other too. But it looks like sooner is on a lot of post it's. And OP got what she was looking for but I don't think I've seen her since page one.

Just curious...how does jokingly jumping forward to be sooner's nanny represent a corporate asshole?
Now that all the fun is over and no one cares anymore... I think sooner lives in ny. I do too and in my area $600 a week is standard pay for a nanny. Daycare is around $400-500. Most people i know with 2+ kids have nannies if both parents are working. (Yes, things in ny are too expensive)

I am pretty sure she lives in Oklahoma...?
Let me clear a few things up...
1. I went to school in Oklahoma, but recently moved away. I don't live in a super high cost of living state, but I definitely pay the going rate for nannies.
2. The poster who said that as long as we are all vaccinated, we shouldn't be concerned about childhood illnesses clearly doesn't understand science. I can't do anything there, except point out that we can't vaccinate against all illnesses or even all serious illnesses.
3. I have never, ever, ever discussed "how rich" I am. First of all, we aren't. Second, I would never do that. Other than one post about how much child care costs, where I answered honestly and one vent about our nanny quitting suddenly the week I was due, I have never mentioned anything money related on the bump.
But don't let facts get in the way of your highly-active imagination.
4. As for what my husband does, yes, I mentioned it early on when answering "advice needed" posts because I thought it had some relevance. Just like our vets on this board thought it was relevant to mention that when giving advice. But honestly, your obsession with this is a little crazy. I have not mentioned it in months.

I'm projecting my own issues on this because I work under contract and am paid half of what my company is paid for my position. However I was making a correlation between that scenario (because let's be honest, my company isn't the only one screwing over their employees) and the amount of people saying they'd be happy to take the job. Why? Because they would make either equal or increased wages to what they are now. And yes this is an assumption but if that annual wage was less than what they currently make would they say "I'll be your nanny?"

But do you have a college degree in early childhood education or any training in a related area that would make you a good nanny candidate? You said you make the same amount as a nanny salary, but in a completely different field, right?
How is what a nanny makes relevant at all to what you make? Or evidence of corporate assholery?
Isn't this the same as an accountant finding out that a veterinarian makes 150k per year and saying "oh, I will volunteer to do your job!" It just isn't comparing apples to apples.

I get it...no hatred or anything...just looking for a little clarification. Honestly, a job like that would be a pay decrease for me, but I would happily take it. I'm a teacher in a small town, so I make less than 40K a year. And let's face it, sooner's nanny is going to make damn good money for what the job requires. It's also a job that doesn't require much time/effort outside a set number of hours. I wish I could say the same about teaching. The sad part about teaching is that the pay is way less than minimum wage when you factor in additional hours worked outside the traditional school day. Just a little rant from someone who would mind being a nanny who makes 30K!

We are paying about 11 bucks per hour. There are a lot of jobs out there that pay 11 bucks per hour that don't require any time/effort outside of work hours. Our local 7/11 had a sign outside this week that said their starting wages were 11.50/hour, and you don't have to do outside work in that job. Same with tons of other jobs. I just don't understand the hate for this particular job--especially since she has a college education. Shouldn't that be rewarded with something more than minimum wage? In home childcare workers who take care of several unrelated kids make more than 10 bucks an hour almost everywhere in the country.
Not saying it's wrong...but it's unusual in most parts of the country. I just hope your nanny realizes how lucky she is! There are not many people willing to pay that much for child care if they have cheaper options.
OMG this whole nanny conversation should have ended a long time ago. STFU and move on.
Took the words right out of my mouth!
Sorry, I must have missed your intro as the bump police and sole decider of all that is sufficiently interesting to be discussed on this board...
Oh wait, you can't decide what is discussed or when a thread is "boring." You can decide whether to continue to post in the thread or not. If it bores you, please move along to another riveting thread!
How is supposed to read? Gwen, Ned, Leslie, Grace? I've always been baffled by this to and this is why I didn't pair her and crunchy mama together in the "pairs" thread.
