Crockpot cookers come in!

Question for y'all. Making stew in the Crockpot, so it will be simmering for at least 6-7 hours. Do I need to brown the beef first, or can I just dump the stew meat in with veggies and broth? Thanks so much!!

I've never browned if, and it's turned out fine. I know some people like to, but I don't think it's necessary.

I'm the odd one out, I say brown. However my slow cooker has the ability to brown, so I don't have to dirty an extra pan.
