Speaking of adjustable waist pants...

We are beginning potty training so the jeans and pants I bought my son for fall/winter are elastic waist. Has anyone ever seen adjustable elastic waist pants or jeans? My son is tall and thin. He needs 3T for length but 2T for the waist. I'd like to buy 3T so they will fit longer and adjust the waist, but he needs elastic waist for potty training.

I'm also a first time mom so if the elastic waist thing is not imperative, let me know!

Re: Speaking of adjustable waist pants...

  • DD1 is like your son - she is in 4T for length, but 3T and even 2T for waist. She's fully potty trained and while she wears mostly dresses, when she does wear jeans they always just have the adjustable waist it's really not an issue. She's such a stick that she can just pull them up and down without unbuttoning them. How easy that is might depend on your child's build, but it sounds like regular jeans with the adjustable waist should work fine for you. You might just have to practice a little :)

  • Gap and OshKosh have the adjustable waist jeans. Walmart even carries a few that have it, though I don't remember the brand.

  • Project Pomona has cute pants that are adjustable in the waist and the length. They have cute fabric cuffs that you can roll up to be shorter or longer. I bought them because we cloth diaper and one pair lasted us a long time before he outgrew them.

  • I'm in the same boat!  But he is more like 24 month waist and 2T length.  Anyway, Old Navy is our fav.  Also, Amy Coe....super comfy and soft.  My mum got him some DKNY ones [I don't know what that is] but the button fell right off to adjust them.  OshKosh also has adjustable waist.  Basically any name brand that we've found has them!  We can't buy him regular pants...skinny man.
