srlsy DH?

DH is an engineer and as such, he likes to have very organized systems in place for everything - he's very particular in the way he does a lot of household chores.  So, we have two changing tables - one upstairs and one downstairs.  I keep diapers, outfits, and bibs in each one.  Today DH went to get a bib and there were none in the table.  This is the conversation that followed:

DH: There are no more bibs
Me: They're probably dirty, there's more upstairs
DH: Well, what's our system for bibs
Me: uuuh, what?
DH: How many bibs do we have?
Me: I don't know.
DH: You don't know how many bibs we have?  How can you not know how many bibs we have?
Me: uuuh - we have a lot
DH: Well - how many do we keep downstairs?
Me: I don't know
DH: Well - what is the proportion of bibs upstairs vs downstairs?  50-50?  60-40?

Oh my...seriously DH?  What do you think goes on here all day? Do you really think I'm sitting around counting bibs?  I laughed pretty hard at him for that one.

Re: srlsy DH?

  • Omg I think we may be twins. I caught DH getting a diaper from the diaper bag rather than the diaper caddy and was all "Don't mess up my system!" I always keep 10 diapers in the diaper bag that way I never get caught needing one. And if I use one when I'm out I replace it as soon as I get home.

    Hangs head in shame.

  • I think I love your dh. There are systems for everything in my world, and you either get on board with it in this house or die. I run a tight ship. Granted it's a messy and dirty one these days, but still the order of things must be obeyed.

  • I think that is adorable, in a funny and compulsive way.

  • Yeah, being married to an engineer can be hard sometimes. I love mine to pieces but sometimes....

We have learned to never try to assemble anything together. Ever. It will be a huge fight eventually if we do.
