Are you getting LO a Xmas gift?

I know we have a Xmas post below about LOs and gifts, but I was wondering if you as parents were getting your LOs gifts?

I know it sounds really scrooge-y but I was not planning on it. My LO has SO much stuff. I've asked over and over to please stop but my parents give him 2-4 new toys a month (and they aren't just small things - some of them are significant, like a rocking horse). Then there is my MIL - when she comes for Xmas, there will be a small suitcase just for him. I figure he doesn't really know who is giving him what at this stage so I was not planning on giving him any more stuff. DH thinks that is wrong and as a mother I should give him something.

What do you think?

I did get her a few things but not much. A cute abc abacus, a cute drum/music set, and a chicka. But it's stuff she doesn't have that I know she will enjoy.

I don't think you're wrong to not get your LO anything. If you feel bad about it just put a little money aside for later and make that the gift. Or get tickets to an event/place and make that a present (sesame place, disney on ice, things like that).

We aren't getting him any small toys. One or two "big" items...a cozy coupe for sure and we're still debating on what else. Maybe a new outfit and a book or something. We aren't going crazy this year as money is tight!

Bath toys and a towel with his name on it. Oh and @hilsy85 a wooden subway train and membership to the Transit Museum! And signing him up for music classes.

Membership to the transit museum is a GREAT idea--they're finally getting old enough to kind of sort of enjoy it!

I bought some Peter Rabbit books for DS when there was a sale on Gilt. He desperately needs some more pants and PJs, as well as shoes. Those may or may not be X'mas presents because he'll probably need them before then. I also need to get him some warm winter jackets. I'm planning to head to the consignment shop in a couple of weeks and hope to find him all the clothes he needs there. Yup, I'm cheap.

Oh, and we're picking up a wooden play kitchen for him tomorrow, which I found on CL. For $10!

Just a few books. That's it. She has SO much stuff. And will get so much at Christmas for gifts. I'd rather save money now and drop big money in a few years when she's old enough to understand what's going on.

We are getting Wesley a tunnel he can crawl through and some of the plastic balls for a ball pit for his playroom, but not to much. I know that he will be spoiled from everyone else so I'm only getting him a few things.

we're not. I don't see the point now as she won't know the difference and she's going to get a TON of stuff from my family/friends anyways.

We're just getting E a few things in general. For Cole, we will wrap his Santa gifts in special Santa paper and his gifts from Mama and Mommy in different paper so he will have a distinction. But E is clueless and knowing her will just LOVE playing with paper! lol

Yes! We haven't been either yet but other mom friends say the pass is worth it. Also hilsy both our kids need an "L" train of course and dix can get an "E" train.

@JoNi2010 I really think you can/should take advantage of the fact that your LO is too little to remember or appreciate gifts. He will get so much other stuff out of Christmas - wrapping paper (whoooo!) and new foods, and lots of socializing and attention from relatives. All that is a Big Deal to a 1 year old.

Don't feel like that! We're in a similar boat. My mom gave us some money for Christmas presents from them for everyone, but we had to use that for bills/gas/food/etc... So we got the boys each something from my parents and then we'll get them maybe one or two more things then that's it. We saw the money my mom gave us as a blessing and an early Christmas present to us.

Don't feel bad at all girl. Lord know they all have enough..and then some! I've only bought Ella a "My first Mobile" phone that has buttons and plays music. I might get her some hair barettes and a mini hair brush. Ever since I brushed her hair with my brush she's been using everything to "brush" her hair lol. It's really cute. My parents will get her a few things I'm sure, to be honest it's my older children I'm worried about getting gifts for. Christmas time is expensive!

Yes Santa brings the big gift and maybe a few small ones plus sticking stuffers. Them DH and I both go out and buy our own gifts for them

I really want to get Henry a snow globe...not that he can play with, obviously, but just something we can put out at Christmas that is his from when he was a baby. As for toys, I was thinking of getting him a toy car or small train set. Nothing too fancy.

Santa is bring a few toys but like I said in the other post we are putting money in his account. He doesn't need anything and I am sure everyone is going to go crazy with gifts.
