This is inspired by the fact that I was at the mall the other day and saw Santa and thought OMG! We need to take LO this year. If I hadn't seen Santa, I don't think I would have remembered.
When you've been married this long, you need a ticker to remind you.
H and I talked about it, but I think we decided waiting in line with a three month old around lots of screamed kids didn't really seem worth it. We will once she's a bit older though.
I don't feel comfortable while DS is so young. Call me paranoid but I don't want him being handled by someone that just handled 100 other kids, during flu season.
Married DH : 7/7/12; 3 fur babies (2 dogs and 1 cat) DS born 9/3/13; DD born 7/22/15; LO due 5/28/18 FS (age 5) and FD (age 2) to become AS/AD very soon!
We are taking the toddler to see him and DS2 will go along too and DS1 will demand baby bro go with him. So yes....BUT this is DS1s first Santa experience. We did not take him his first two Christmas'. If we didn't have an older child LO would be waiting until 2 as well.
Definitely not the baby. I'm not one to care much about getting the photo or whatever, but when I tried to take DS last year (he'd just turned 2), he freaked out. Scared shitless of Santa. Doubt we wanna go through that again so probably not.
We took DD1 last year and I wasn't happy with the pictures. DD1 was a little frightened, the Santa was meh at best and seemed annoyed, the background sucked, picture quality was equivalent to my flip phone from 2004, etc.
This year, I am buying my dad a Santa hat and white beard and having him wear a red sweater and black jeans. He is going to hold the girls and my friend is going to take a few shots. My DD1 thinks my dad is made of magic anyway so him being Santa in the pictures with them both will be an awesome keepsake when they are older.
We wanted to cause we were at the mall last week, but then we decided that $20 wasn't worth it. Santa will be at our church's Christmas party so we will do it there

Are a lot of LOs getting sick?
DS has been fine so far, not one illness. Despite DH and myself both having at least one of our own colds! :-)

Not that I'm aware, but I don't really know anyone here with kids. I understand that it's ok for DS to get a cold, but the flu scares me. I just feel like if there was a way of exposing him to it, that would def be it. I will bring him next year when he's old enough to have had a flu shot.
We are taking the kids to a photographer friend of mine who is setting up some Santa minis. The mall has always been a horrible experience and way overpriced, I will avoid it at all costs.
I work in a prison and have seen the type of men who volunteer to have children sit in their laps. DD will not be visiting the local creepy mall Santa.

I'm not a fan of those photos. I don't like the Easter bunny pictures either. Maybe when she's older if she says she wants to go tell him what she wants for Christmas but I won't force her to go and take a picture with him.
If my. 2 yo will sit with Santa we will get a picture of both of the with him. We saw Santa at the mall last weekend shem he was standing up taking a break and he spoke to my dd1 for about 5 min and she was so excited that she got to tell him she wanted a radio and he sang twinkle twinkle to her. It was one if the cutest things I have experienced with her.
Not going to. I'd rather get a cute 'winter' picture taken somewhere, because I could hang that on my wall year round and it wouldn't look out of place
#1 I hate finding parking at the mall
#2 I hate standing in lines
If, when LO is older, he asks to go see Santa, then I would take him.
I always did as a kid and couldn't imagine not having the picture as memories for H. I get how it can sound creepy to some people but I also know the one we plan on taking her too is wonderful and has been doing it for years. I have many pictures with this particular Santa, he looks SO real!
DB's sisters FIL actually is a mall Santa (I think... Maybe he just does the parades) so that is an option for us as well.
Its up to the kids. DD1 has always been terrified so I have no pictures of her with Santa. DD2 might be young enough for her first Christmas to be impartial, but I don't see DD1 changing her mind.
Yes! But not at the mall. My mom's neighbor starts growing his beard in June so he can play Santa. We set him up in front of the tree and fireplace for pics. CAN'T WAIT!!!
Ss. If we go to an event that has a Santa then yes we will. But I'm not waiting in line at the mall. Dd just got over a cold and I want her to me cold free for a little bit.
We will BC our town does a whole Christmas thing downtown for free. Santa, carriage rides, petting zoo, lights, etc. Even if we de ide to not do that, we also have a free Santa at my work, so we'll at least get a picture.
