Worried... Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi there, I'm feeling very worried and confused after my first prenatal appointment today. I found out two weeks ago tomorrow that I'm pregnant through 3 different HPT'S and I believe the first day of my last period was Oct. 11th. This means I tested at about 4 weeks, right? And should be just shy of 6 weeks now, right? Wrong, apparently. I saw a nurse practitioner who did a transvaginal ultrasound and couldn't see anything. She said it might be too early but sounded worried and said there could be a chance of miscarriage? 
I then had my blood drawn and she called me later today and said that my HCG is about 1,500 which she said was like 3 weeks? I looked online and people were saying that sounds more like 4-5 weeks. She's thinking I'm either not as far along as I thought which doesn't make sense due to the fact I would have then had a positive test at less than 2 weeks? Or is there still a chance that the baby is just shy/hiding at this point?

Has this happened to anyone else? I am so worried. On the phone she said it's like 50-50. I don't know what factors are pointing to a potential miscarriage, but I really just need opinions/assurance. This is my first pregnancy and I haven't had any spotting or bleeding. 
I go back to have another blood HCG test in a couple of days and a ultrasound next week, but the nurse sounded so oddly bleak. Please  tell me your stories/opinions!

    It is most likely that you are just too early in the pregnancy and cannot see the baby yet. The earliest that ultrasound can detect the sac is 4-5 weeks pregnant, I believe. If your HCG keeps going up, that's a good sign. I think at 3 weeks it is too early to determine a miscarriage with ultrasound. Someone please correct me if that is incorrect info.

    Were you temping? I am a late ovulater so if I went by my LMP I'd be at 11 weeks not a day shy of 9.  It could just be that you're not as far along as you thought.

    *lurking* you may have ovulated later than you think, in which case you're just early on. When I was pregnant last year I used a fertility monitor that tested my cm every day, and knew when I was ovulating. It wasn't smack in the middle of the month. So unless you were temping, or using a monitor, etc, try to hang tight and wait. (I know it's hard). Good luck!

    First of all, I am sorry that you are going through this! Being pregnant can be so scary sometimes. You need to get an HCG Quant. again in 2 todays. Then they can see if your HCG is continuing to rise or is it declining. I will pray for you.
