So yesterday I had a regular OB appointment. I had my 28 week altrasound, did my GTT. Was feeling pretty good because I actually held the drink down for once 
So I'm talking to my OB and I'm telling her how I've lots of BH (but none are painful, just uncomfortable), and for the past 2 weeks, I've had lots of pressure and a bit of pain. She immediately does a vaginal swab to test for PTL. Lo and behold, the test came back positive. I was was instructed to go to L&D. They gave me Celestone to help mature baby's lungs just in case (first dose last night, 2nd this morning) I was a little freaked out to say the least. But the silver lining is baby is doing good. Weighing in at about 2.9 lbs! And thank goodness cervix is still closed, albeit a little effacing going on, but still closed!! Fingers crossed this LO will hang on a little while longer....

It can be thought of as an adhesive or "biological glue" that binds the fetal sac to the uterine lining.
Fetal fibronectin "leaks" into the vagina if a preterm delivery is likely to occur and can be measured in a diagnostic test.[1]
When the fFN test is positive, it is an inconclusive result. A positive result can indicate that a woman will go into preterm labor soon, but she may not go into labor for weeks. When the fFN test is negative, the result is a better predictor. A negative result means that there is little possibility of preterm labour within the next 7 to 10 days, and the test can be repeated weekly for women who remain at high risk. A negative fetal fibronectin test gives a more than 95% likelihood of remaining undelivered for the next 2 weeks.[2] A systematic review of the medical literature found that fetal fibronectin is a good predictor of spontaneous preterm birth before cervical dilation.[3] The test may be run on patients between 22 and 35 weeks gestation.

I agree with the PP that said she doesn't put much faith in the test. Mine showed negative and I went into labor 2 days later!
