Buying diapers online?

edited November 2013 in Babies: 3 - 6 Months
Just wondering if it is any cheaper to buy diapers online from let's say diapers.com or just pick some up from the local store like Walmart? I haven't done a price comparison yet but thought it might be easier/more affordable to order larger quantities online?

Re: Buying diapers online?

  • I googled this before and it came up price per diaper amazon is cheapest. If u do amazon mom/subscribe and save it's like 20% off. And I love having it delivered. Never run out! Same with. Wipes btw. A pack of like 500 is like $10. Free shipping too.

  • We do Amazon Mom & pay $0.15/diaper.  The closest price I have found locally is Costco at $0.19/diaper.  Target, Walmart & the supermarket are all $0.25 or more/diaper.   We also buy our wipes that way.  You can also add other items to your subscription that ships to your home monthly and save more.  We get Dreft, toilet paper and coffee in the monthly shipments as well, increasing our savings.  Even if we only got diapers through Amazon, the service would pay for itself in 3 months over buying them in the store and then we would be saving the difference monthly.   It is $79/month and includes a Prime membership (after the trial)  - you can do a free trial for 3 months.
  • This has helped me

I also check slickdeals.net and setup diaper alerts so it will email me if there's a good deal.

This is what we do. I don't buy from stores anymore.

  • My son was able to use Target diapers and they work great. Plus they were cheaper per diaper.  we buy the biggest box they have.
  • Thanks everyone :)

  • I am going to join google prime, the free kindle book per month and all the movies you are able to watch makes it totally worth it! Im going to cancel my netflix (which sucks)...
And yes Target diapers seem like a good deal also!
I hope I don't order more than I need with the diapers. Im not sure how fast she will grow out of a particular size. Shes 3 months and will be wearing a size 2 soon.

  • We did the price comparison and found that our local stores generic is by far cheeper then the comparable huggies brand on any online site as well as costco and we use walmarts wipes which are 700 count for $12 . I would do some serious price comparison before buying one way or another .
  • Ditto to the others posting about Amazon Mom/Amazon Prime. Just a little correction from one person's post above: the membership is $79 per YEAR, not per month. The Subscribe & Save feature makes Luvs about the same price as Parent's Choice or other generic diapers. Plus, it's super-convenient to have diapers and wipes delivered to your house. You also get free 2-day shipping on EVERYTHING sold by Amazon. We order tons of stuff off of there, so it easily pays for itself.

That said, I think if you really hold out for good sales and use coupons, you may be able to beat the online price. Not worth it to me.
  • Apart from perhaps some serious couponing/watching deals like a hawk, Amazon is absolutely the cheapest.  Using Amazon Prime to get an Amazon Mom subscription is the best way, but even without Prime/Mom, Amazon is still the cheapest generally.
  • We buy quite a bit from Amazon so I joined Amazon Mom when my daughter was born. It's also super convenient not to have to run to the store but know that we can get a box within 2 days of placing our order.
