I don't know why I am so paranoid about my daughter's parts, but I am! I feel like I can never keep her dry enough down there with all her rolls and nooks and crannies. It so often seems slightly red, and I don't think I had this problem with the boys. I don't like to use baby powder very often, but maybe I should? Or should I be giving her some diaper free time during the day? (Diaperless tummy time or play mat time with a fleece blanket and cloth diapers laid out under her.)
So moms of daughters, how much do you worry about the slight redness and what do you do to remedy it?
Do you use any sort of diaper cream? I use a cloth wipe to pay her dry (I don't use wipes if it's just pee, I just pat her dry) then if she's red at all I apply coconut oil or CJs. We do some diaper free time before and after bath, so that's a good idea for tummy time with a towel or puppy pee pads or those blue pads from the hospital under her. I don't use baby powder at all. Never have.

I only use diaper cream if there is actual diaper rash. And I only use wipes if there is poo. I try to get most of the poo off with the diaper though, before pulling out a wipe.
Try a fleece liner for a day or two. I think prefolds are natural fabrics, which feel wet. See if it makes a difference. You can just get some cheap fleece fabric from the store or cut up some old fleece pjs.

I have some that I tried for overnights with the boys. Fleece on one side hemp on the other. Would that work? And do I put that next to her skin or wrap it inside the prefold? That is the part that always confuses me.
I don't CD, but we do at least 20 minutes of nakey tummy time a day to air her out. We lay her on an extra waterproof mattress pad and cover her with a fleece blanket.

Just want to ditto @TJ1979's advice. M had a difficult time with prefolds and I bought a bunch of fleece liners from Amazon. WE've switched over to pockets for a long time now, but out of habit, I still use a fleece liner on top. CJ and coconut oil never worked for M though, however.

DD never had issues with redness, I did always use the gro-via stick and I think it really helped keep her rash free. We also did almost no diaper free time due to our house being very cold in the months she was little.
