Team Green Nurseries

Hi ladies,

We are Team Green and FT parents. Our office will become the nursery. The walls are either staying tan(ish) or we will paint gray. In general I'm trying to stay really neutral so that the room can stay the same while baby grows and/or until it becomes a nursery again. I was wondering if any Team Greeners would share their nursery ideas with me. I feel like their isn't much out there that doesn't scream boy or girl. Thanks so much!

Re: Team Green Nurseries

  • Ours is beachy- white wainscoting on the bottom, pale blue on the top with natural wood furniture, white frames, and a blue/tan rocker. Since DD was a girl we added pink sheets and sand dollars hanging from pink ribbons above her bay window.

  • We're doing gray and an aqua/turquoise color. And will add other colors later.Or not.white furniture. But when baby gets older and we have a second we can keep it similar maybe change an accent color. or maybe we will see what we're having next time.
  • With my first we were team green and did the jungle friends bedding from PBK. Very gender neutral I found and still love it!!

  • We have green stripes (a darker green and a lighter green - based on a pinterest find) on the walls with dark furniture and brown accents. We plan to add pink or blue accents and decorations once baby arrives.
  • We know the sex of our baby, but decided years ago to do a Winnie the Pooh theme (gender neutral ).
This way it doesn't need to be changed when we have another baby.
  • We are team green and also converting our small office to the nursery (we had a large spare bedroom that will also now serve as the office/spare bedroom).

We haven't picked out a paint color yet, but were thinking a soft green gray color like our kitchen (mountain haze by behr), but maybe something a little brighter. We plan to get a white crib and dresser, a sisal rug, and I'm thinking a dark gray linen/cotton glider. I really like the one at Pottery Barn that can be used as a solid chair later on.

We'll likely incorporate some color and patterns in our crib sheet, curtains/shades, I'm thinking orange and grays. I'll be sewing them so it all depends on fabric. The room overall will be very neutral and a similar style to the rest of our house.

I'm an artist so I do plan to include some homemade artwork (framed) on the walls to bring in color, book shelves and a ruler growth chart that I'll also make.

    ~~Everyone Always Welcome~~

  • Ours is going to be a green color. We have very bright colors in our house (orange, blues, greens) already and we picked a green that goes with all of them. Then we'll accent with oranges, blues, browns, tans and go for a nature theme. We have some great black and white pictures of flowers, trees, and waterfalls to hang in the room.

  • We're definitely excited to find out the sex of the baby, but we're not interested in traditionally gender specific nurseries. We're either going one of two ways: All white furniture and white walls, with an accent wall in bright yellow flowers. Or, (and my husband is not into this idea), a cozy and rich navy blue with white furniture and pops of yellow. Check out Pinterest!

  • WOW Thanks all! You gave me sooo many more ideas than the one idea I was stuck on! Thanks again!
  • We are painting the walls half white and half grey with a lime green accent stripe in between. Then orange pictures and accents...

  • We have "latte" colored walls and are going with cream/tan/brown. We have really strong colors in the rest of the house, this is our only neutral room and we could go either way with accent colors

  • We're actually not having an official nursery in our current home, because we're looking to move, but my plan for a nursery once we do move is a pale agua walls, white furniture, and then either green or lavender accents depending on whether the baby is a boy or a girl :)

  • We painted yellow and will be doing giraffes.
  • We are painting the whole room gray and adding big yellow chevron stripes to one wall. Yellow curtains with white furniture.
  • I haven't done anything to the nursery yet but plan on keeping the greyish/blue walls and use aqua, white and a little red for accent.
  • We are team pink (I love nursery threads :\"> ), but the bedding we picked out is pretty neutral. It's bumblebees :) Our office is also becoming the nursery for the newbie, and it's already painted grey. Love the color. We knew we were going to do grey, white, and yellow, and the bedding we found online from target matches our "vision." Haha. :) All accents in the room will be yellow and white, once I figure out what said accents are going to be, that is...

  • I'm thinking gray (I've painted every wall in our house a shade of gray) and then a wallpapered wall with a theme on it. I'm going to accent with turquoise and then once the baby is born either magenta for a girl or red for a boy.

I have seen some great rooms on houzz that are worth checkin out. They even made me consider bright orange walls I liked some so much!
  • We're doing white walls (NO walls in my house are white!) with natural or white furniture, aqua and tangerine everything, with grey graphic prints for linens and rug.

If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, I will answer you:
I am here to live out loud!
  • I'm not team green (we found out the sex on Tuesday!), but I wanted a gender-neutral nursery from the beginning anyway so the room can be converted into a kid's room/guest room when the baby is out of it (it's a room in my parent's house, so no real reason to go all out pink or blue!).  We're doing a very nature-themed room, with a spring green on the walls, chocolate brown accents and furniture, and my brother is painting a floor-to-ceiling tree on one wall :-).  There are a lot of wood features in the room - two whole walls are wood, which we're going to sand down and stain an American Walnut shade, same with the built in closet/shelving.

The first major project I've finished is the door - and it took a lot longer than I had planned on!  Here's a picture so you can see the color scheme :-).

  • This is the happiest little nursery ever! Brown/ orange/ aqua and supah cute!
We are going to probably do colors like this but I have a much lighter blue/grn/gray on the walls that I feel I call slide more feminine if I need to. :)

I love the idea of staying really pretty neutral and then adding pops of color :)
  • We aren't team green but I have had our nursery planned out since the pee stick was positive ;) We are doing a light gray walls and white furniture, bedding is gray and white and we are adding splashes of coral ( or navy) as accents .
    Here is our bedding

  • Our walls are mostly white. We are doing this birch tree wallpaper from Anthropologie. We decided on a Wes Anderson Fantastic Mr. Fox vibe, and I say vibe, not theme, because it's more inspired than overdone. My nursery furniture is midcentury modern and neither feminine nor masculine looking. I haven't decided on bedding but there are lots of gender neutral choices out there, I think. Most of the color is going to be added in with accessories, and I'm not sticking to any strict 2-3 color combo... though I certainly gravitate towards some colors, anything goes.
