DD turned 2 in late September. I am looking for a simple craft or ornament that we can make together to give as Christmas gifts to family. Does anyone have any suggestions of things you've done that worked well?
Last year we painted the girls hands white then wrapped them around the ornament (put it bottom side down on their palm, so their fingers wrapped up the sides) then put snowman faces/hats on their fingers. They turned out really cute! Similar to this:
This year I am thinking of doing salt dough ornaments. Either footprints (Mistle-toes) or handprints turned into a mini nativity, or just letting them cut them with cookie cutters, dry them out and paint them.

I didn't think of using sharpies. That makes so much sense!
I do check out Pinterest - but get overwhelmed. The crafts looks so adorable online and I wonder how practical they are to complete with a rambunctious 2yo.
I have a few more ideas posted on there if you scroll down also!
Have fun! We always make ornaments for the kids to hand out at Christmas. it is fun to do together and the kids are so proud to give them out over the holidays
You can get some modeling clay and roll it out very thin (we rolled ours out using my pasta maker attachment for my KitchenAid mixer). The press her hand into it to make a handprint and cut it out using a cookie cutter. She (or you) can paint it, put a small hole in the top, and bake it until it hardens. Attach some ribbon and you have an ornament!
Or have her do some "art", take a photo of it and upload it to shutterfly. You can have it printed onto coffee mugs, note cards, etc.

Last year I had DS paint popsicle sticks and then turned them into Christmas Tree Ornaments.
Here is a link to my blog how we did it.
