Bed Time

What time does your LO go to bed?

DS goes down between 9:30-10, which is perfect since I work from home. DH gets a good amount of time with him after work, and I get some time alone in the morning. We start daycare in a few weeks and naps are from 11-2, so I'm thinking I will need to adjust his schedule to get to DC for their breakfast at 7.

How do you make the most of your nights with LO after work before such an early bedtime? Is it just going to be super crammed trying to fit in dinner, playtime, bath, bedtime routine? I'm kind of bummed about this, but obviously the kid needs to sleep.

Re: Bed Time

  • It is super crammed in the evening, but he is so exhausted and cranky after daycare - I try to just prepare dinner, eat and play with him while he takes a bath.

  • DS comes to work with me, and my husband is home an hour before us (we are home at about 6pm). Usually once we get home DH will cook, we eat, then play about an hour then off to bed, the 4 B's i call it (bath, bottle, book and bed) I try and start the routine at about 8-8:30pm.

  • They get home around 6pm. In the summer we were playing outside and eating dinner at 7, bath then bed. Now we eat when they get home, play in the family room, bath a little after 7 and bed. He is asleep by 7:30 most nights.

  • Most of our daycare kids, including Penny, go to sleep around 8:30 - 8:45. I only know because I peek at their sheets on the board when I drop off, to make sure i'm doing it right. We are out the door for 7 am, and she naps once or twice during the day, either a big nap in the early afternoon, or two shorter naps in the morning and early evening. She sleeps through the night.

It works out well for us, since I'm usually home closer to 7 pm. DH gives her a snack when they get home from daycare, and we start dinner around 7:30.

  • DS is all over the place but it's usually anywhere from 630-730. It's 7-730 most nights.

  • DS is with my mom until 4:30 each day. Bedtime is 8pm. It's usually pretty hectic when I get done especially if DH works OT until 7pm. We usually eat dinner, play then it's bath and bed. He's ready for bed at 8 though and it's nice for DH and I to have some time to ourselves to clean up, watch a show, etc. before we got to bed at 10pm.

  • Our nights are super-rushed, but DD especially starts getting grouchy early. Bedtime is 7:30 (sometimes earlier). DD is up before 7 a.m.

  • My daughter is usually asleep between 7:30-8:00 on weeknights.  We leave the house by 6:45 am, so she sleeps until 6:30 am at the latest, but it's usually more like 6:00 am.  We're home by 4:30 pm.  I'm thankful I work school hours, because I'm able to have more time with her in the afternoon.

  • We leave the house just after 7, so DD is up usually between 615 and 645am. She goes to bed usually around 630-7pm.

This is what our evenings looks like:
    515pm: p/u from daycare
    5:30pm: home
5:35-6pm: DD eats dinner (prepared the night before)
    6pm: bath, pjs, book
    6:30ish: in bed.

It is craaaaaaazy and stressful for me. Most night DH doesn't see her before she's asleep. But she needs the sleep and is ready for bed then so we make it work. I am hoping once she more consistently sleeps better at daycare we can more closer to 7/730pm.

  • DD wakes up everyday around 7 (plus/minus 15 minutes).  She spends an hour in the morning with DH before he brings her to daycare.  I leave for work at 7 so I always get her out of her crib and put her in bed with DH and give her her morning bottle.  At daycare she takes one nap from 12 - 2.  I pick DD up after work (teacher) around 3:30 to 4.  She eats dinner at 5:15 and is in bed at 7 on the nose every night.

  • L is up around 6:30 (lately - ya! used to be 5:30) out the door to DC at 7. Pickup between 4:30 & 5 depending on traffic. Dinner is between 5:30 & 6. Play. If it is a bath night she is out by 6:30. Into jammies and has her medicine and reading a book by 7. She is usually in her crib shortly thereafter and asleep by 7:30.

We have a no electronic rule from 5-7 so we get quality time with her.

  • I get to daycare around 5:15. I nurse him, pack up our stuff, and get home around 6:00.

I play with him while DH cooks dinner (or at least that's been the trend as of late). Then 6:40 dinner, followed by bath, then bed routine.

Not a lot of play time but it is what it is. :/

  • I think we're the earliest bedtime so far, so I feel your pain. LO decided a long time ago that she needed to go to sleep between 6-6:30, and trying to extend that has been an exercise in futility (she's already cranky when I pick her up). Luckily I teach, so I get her and we're home by 3:45. We play for a bit, dinner is at 5, bath at 5:45, and we go from there. She's up around 6:30 am.

  • We eat at about 5:30. Baths at about 6:45. Up to bed b/w 7:30-8:00 PM.

This is us. DD is usually asking to go to bed (nie nie peas) by 6:30 but we push her to at least 7 and we have to wake her up around 6:30 for DC.
