Babies: 0 - 3 Months

newborn doesn't really make fists

I've seen and read that most babies have their hands in tight little fists most of the time.  My LOs big hands are always spread out flat, except when the grasp reflex is working around my fingers or something.  It's very cute, especially when he's got them pressed flat on his chest while eating.  Just wondering how uncommon this is. Anyone else?

  • Mine always has his hands spread open, even in his sleep  MIL always comments how unusual it is.

  • I was actually just mentioning this to DH today. Reagan's little hands are open all the time when she is awake and closed when she sleeps. It is too cute!  Makes it a little difficult to trim her nails when she is asleep though...

  • My DS has his clenched when he's mad, super hungry, or working on some gas. Otherwise they're open or half open. It's kind of cute when he sleeps, he often has just the fingertips curled over and they twitch a little. It looks like he's revving his motorcycle.
