Follow Up Birthday Question

I am not meaning this contentiously but I am honestly curious. I see many give a family gift for birthdays when more than one kid attends. But either here or on another twin board I remember a conversation about people being kind of irritated at people only bringing one gift for their twins to share.

It feels like kind of the same thing, or at least setting the precedent that a family gift is what is expected. For me, the feedback changed what I got for a twin party #2 was invited to (I didn't start that post, just read it). Anyhow, just curious how this all fits together.

Re: Follow Up Birthday Question

  • The math makes my head hurt. I honestly don't have any specific idea, but I am just wondering if it kind of makes people think a single family gift is appropriate for twins too, since when the twins theoretically go to their party they only bring one gift comparable to a single kids' gift (based on a couple responses at least). I am secretly hoping to convince my twins to have presentless birthdays currently, so much crap around here ugh.

  • At my twins' first birthday we invited two other sets of twins and three singletons.  I was curious how the gifts situation would work out.  Everyone brought two gifts.  I would have been fine either way.
