Vomit help/question

DD is getting her two top teeth and possibly molars. It is hell. She is a late bloomer with teeth having only her bottom two so far.

Does this cause vomitting? She was up puking from 12-2 on Tuesday night but was totally fine Wed and went to DC and ate and was fine. Now today, she has zero appetite an just barfed up mostly liquid after tasting a carrot piece! Is this a real bug or teeth related?

Re: Vomit help/question

  • My kid only has 4 teeth, so I'm no expert. But vomit doesn't seem like a teething symptom. I know they can have excess saliva, but I wouldn't expect it to cause puke. I'd be calling the pedi.

  • That sounds like a bug to me... sorry!
  • Sounds like a bug, we are on 8 teeth with every terrible symptom and no vomit.

  • My LO threw up Friday night, but mood wise was fine the next day. She did continue to have diarrhea and no appetite all this week. I called the pedi and they said it did sound like a stomach virus and that it can last awhile. She hasn't had a fever either. I'd stick to feeding her more bland foods and liquids.

  • DS only has two teeth as well, but with DD I don't remember vomiting ever really happening when she didn't have an actual bug. Sounds like a little stomach bug to me. I'd just do as MRoxy said and feed her a bland diet for a day or two. Hopefully it doesn't take long for her to start feeling better. Poor girls.

Thanks ladies I never remembered barfing with DS but thought I'd check. I guess I'll keep her home tomorrow though she went yesterday and ate and seemed fine. So weird.

ETA: this also sucks because I can't give her meds for teething since she is not eating. Her poop today was solid so at least that is good.

  • I personally would still give Tylenol for teething. I actually didn't realize you shouldn't. I'd just do Tylenol instead if Motrin so it's not hard on her tummy. GL!
