Fetal Doppler bought off Groupon

I bought the fetal doppler that another member on here had posted from groupon.  I googled what the average FHR is supposed to be at 7 weeks (around 120) and I THINK (if i used the thing correctly) I got a HB of around 119 to 121.  When i moved the prob away from the spot i was getting that heart rate it went down so i'm assuming i was picking up baby HB.  It also sounded like LO was swimming in there even though i know she/he probably isn't.  She's still a tiny thing at this point, but thought it was pretty cool that i THINK I heard the HB and at 7w4d.

  • @cakebatter27....i thought that too.  My next u/s is Dec 2 and i'm trying so hard not to worry and pray daily there will be a strong HB.  I had NO IDEA what I was doing with it bc the directions are worse than trying to put together a bookshelf from IKEA.  But when i would hit a certain spot on my lower abdomen that heart rate would pop up.  I honestly didn't expect to hear anything, but thought it was kind of cool.
  • I am jealous you are able to hear the heartbeat but knowing me I would be completely obsessed with checking the heartbeat... To the point of psychotic.
  • @babybambi...I'm so scared I will be like that with it. I mainly got it bc my gma has Parkinson's and cant walk anymore and we arnt sure how much longer she will be around so I want her to at least be able to hear the HB. Hopefully she will still be here next summer when LO is born.

I lost my grandmother to Parkinson's last December. It's a terrible, terrible thing to watch. I so hope she hangs on for the baby. I would give anything for my grandmothers to get to meet their grand babies.

So sweet!! I wasn't knocking your purchase. ..I'm just way too paranoid to have something like that around. Plus I'd probably use it like I pee on sticks...constantly. hopefully it's plug in because I'd be poor buying batteries!

@hart43011 I just got mine in the mail today too! I am 6 weeks along (normal range is 90-110) and got a peanut HB of 109! It was amazing. I also checked DHs tummy and my own HB to make sure I wasn't hearing things. It does sound kind of swishy though (like you said) so maybe our babies ARE really ute swimming! haha
    :))

Edit: wanted to add that even though it is unlikely that you will use it enough to cause concern, it is best to limit ultrasound wave exposure to the fetus. Just don't walk around with the heartbeat as an 80s stereo on your shoulder and you should be fine.

  • What kind did y'all get? The one I looked at said you could use it around 10 weeks....
  • Also, does it read heartbeat to you or do you have to count it out?
  • @Hpjabusch Here is the link to the product for brand info Link to Fetal Doppler.

It has an LED display that reads the heart rate. The website above should also give you more details about the features.
