Question about BFPs and multiples!

Hi Ladies! Just a question out of curiosity. I got my BFP yesterday, and this is #2. I was only 8dpo, and tested in the afternoon without much of a hold! I was completely shocked not only to get a BFP, but that it was quite dark! Today it is almost as close as the control. (Tested with FRERs) My O date is exact, and confirmed with OPKs and charting.

Agreed with pp. Only way to tell if it is would be by U/S. Typically HCG levels and how dark a BFP is really have nothing to do with the amount of babies. You could have 10 in there and have a really faint line. Either way Congrats and if it is twins hope to see you on the board with us!

I got my first + at 10 dpo with my last 5 pregnancies, only one of which was twins (and including a recent CP)

HPTs test for the presence of HCG, not the specific amount. Dye amounts will vary between tests so sometimes they're darker/lighter and aren't related to the level of HCG in your urine.

Even if HPTs did test quantity, high HCG doesn't automatically mean multiples. Many of us had low range HCG with our multiples and HCG cannot be used as a reliable indicator of multiples with how it can vary person to person. The only way to determine multiples is with an u/s. Either way, congrats and HH9.

I tested every day starting at 8 dpo (thanks for enabling me dollar store!) and I didn't even get a faint line until 13dpo. So I would say an early BFP doesn't necessarily mean twins.

My betas were normal for a singleton. 3751 at 23dpo. I did find it interesting that my FRER started pulling dye from the control line at 21dpo. But I literally had no idea it would be twins.

Congratulations!!! I got my BFP 11dpo and it was the faintest of lines, not that this will help you in any way...

Congratulations!!! I don't know how many days past O I was, but on the day my period was due, I got an immediate and super dark + sign on my test. I was quite shocked because I was expecting that if I was pregnant, it would just be a faint line that day (from what I had read, and was prepared for a "line is a line") Looking back I wonder if that was a sign it was twins? I never did betas so can't help you there.

Well I just had my first HCG draw today, and it came back at 50. That's pretty normal for 3w2d. Thanks for all of your input! We're happy with any number and any gender as long as he/she/they are health.

My singleton came up faster than my twin pregnancy on the pregnancy test.

No help here. I took my HPT at 14 dpo. The line came up so fast, and it was almost as dark as the control. I didn't take any before that. I also didn't have betas drawn other than 1x and I wasn't told the numbers. As the other ladies have said, the only way to know is a u/s.
