Ladies who have/are getting 3d US done.

Good morning Ladies :)

I  have not yet decided whether I want one or not, so I figured I would ask you guys.  If you have had them done, do you think that they're worth it?  Did you like it?  Did you get good photos ? (Feel free to share) :) Also how was the experience?

This was the best one we got, it was at 20 weeks.  I don't get another one and they just automatically switched to 3D.  I had no idea they would do this.  Personally I don't care for them.  It's cute but I feel it's kind of weird.  Personal preference but thought you would like to see a picture.  I know lots of friends who never got a real "good" picture because their LO was in bad position.

  • We did one with DS but won't be doing it with this LO.  Honestly, it just wasn't worth the money to us.  We had to drive almost 2 hours to do it and then had to go back 2 days later because DS was hiding his face and wouldn't move at all.  Not worth the hassle and cost for a 20 minute u/s.

  • I'll AW! It'll give me a smile today. We didn't get ours done per say, our dr does it at 28 weeks. Honestly, if we hadn't chatted up the tech for so long we may not have gotten such good pics. There was a delay as it loaded and many of them turned out blurry or scary! He was wriggling around and hiding his face. I don't know if I would paid for it- in our area it's around $100.00. On second thought as I look at him, I totally would've paid. ;)
  • It is awesome to see such detail! Definitely go for it!
  • I participated in a New Mom Study and as part of the compensation you received a 3D ultrasound. I really enjoyed the ultrasound pictures, but I think that's because it was free. Our LO was stubborn and was facing my spine for most of the visit so we did not really get facial shots. This was the best picture we got when she finally decided to turn around. I probably would not do it again if I had to pay for it out of pocket.
  • we're going in 2 weeks and I can't wait! the place I'm going recommends being between 27 and 32 weeks for the best shots. I've gotten a few (annoying) comments saying "there's no way you're having a girl, that's a boy!" so now I wanna triple check and just see what she looks like. plus we get a stuffed animal with a recording of her heartbeat, a DVD of the whole session and a bunch of printed pictures :)

That's what the offer at the place I was looking into.  Its pricey, but with all the things you receive it seems kind of worth it.  They have a policy that if you don't get baby's face, you come back for free.

    That is am awesome photo!
  • I'm going to a place like the one listed above, I think I picked a cheaper plan vetoing the stuffed animal. But I get pictures, and a DVD of the whole session. It was around 100/120 if I'm remembering correctly. They also recommended going between 27-32 weeks and I'll be going right at 29.5 weeks. Hope it's worth it =] It's our holiday present to each other and we both invited our mothers to come as well who haven't been able to go to any other ultrasound.
The paranoid part of me is excited to triple check its a girl =]
  • I've debated, but I don't see the worth.  In my area its around $125-150.  I could buy a lot of diapers with that and in the next 10 weeks I will be seeing LO in real 3d.  It would be nice to see LO again before then, but my doctor does do another u/s at 36 weeks. Also, I honestly probably wouldn't display the 3d photos, they would end up stashed away somewhere.

  • We did an elective 3d/4d US and for us it was so completely worth it. It was a great experience. I cherish those pictures. We are doing them again this time around too. We go Dec 6! I

  • We're not.  We're waiting patiently to see our LO on his/her birthday. :)  To be honest, those 3D and 4D ultrasounds sort of creep me out; they look alien like, lol.

  • We did not pay to have it done, he just switched over while he was checking on a cyst. Anyway this was the first picture he snapped. We got lucky I guess :)

  • Yep getting an elective one this Saturday ( 29 weeks ) . Looking forward to seeing my baby girl ! . I think of the $100 as a Xmas present to me !
  • I am getting one done in a week. I originally decided to do it so my MIL could come to an ultrasound since she really wanted to, but I didn't feel comfortable having her at a medical ultrasound in case the dr found out something was wrong with LO. There are always groupons in my area for 3D ultrasounds, and I think I got one for around $35.
  • I had two, one at 16 weeks and one at 24 weeks. The second one had a really clear shot of her lady bits and it made be confident that I could call her "Faith" and get girly stuff for her. Mine was about 65 I think. It was worth the money! We got a decent face shot but good face shots weren't guaranteed until after 28 weeks

  • When we went in for the 20 week US the tech switched over to 3D/4D although little duck wouldn't move for the 4D part we got some really good (I think) pictures! src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/FileUpload/d5/0105661c2356da57f2af363d1e02ef.jpg" />
  • There's apparently not many places in my area that do them. I've been calling a local hospital as they offer them but have been getting vmail for about 2 weeks now. I wanted one but am now thinking ill pass since its such a hassle to get in contact with these people and I'm nearing 30 weeks!!! They charge 160
  • Thanks for the comments ladies :)
  • I got mine at the cardiologist. I honestly used to think they were creepy. But as long as you get a good shot of the face I'd say its totally worth it. I now know that my daughter has my nose. :)
  • Our MFM flips it on once in awhile. If you're paying, id wait until after 30 weeks. They kind of freak me out- I don't think I'd pay for it.
  • We have a place near us that does it for $35.00
  • We're not getting one. We'd rather he face be a surprise to us and spend the money on baby stuff we actually need. I have a few friends that got them and they reported it was neat, but you can't really tell what the baby will look like until they are out.

I did one last month and another next week. I would recommend it, it was really neat to see her face in detail. She already looks just like my husband. I was lucky to snag 2 Groupon offers for my 3D/4D US. The first one I did was $25 that included 6 printed photos, a case of formula, a month of pre-natal vitamins and a guarantee gender check (if they couldn't tell, I could go back for free for another scan).

The one I'm doing next week was also $20 and also includes a DVD of the session. I wouldn't have done 2 of them if it weren't for the Groupon. The second one also happens to be while my mom is visiting so she'll get to see one of my ultrasounds.

    Edit: auto correct
  • got mine done last week at 28 weeks. LOVED the experience! Seeing his face brought me to tears, I can't stop looking. <3
  • However, I did get mine for free, actually got paid as part of a new mom's research study I'm part of. If I had to pay the money, not sure if I would have...
  • The ultrasound tech turned on the 3D at my MFM once.  It kind of looked like an alien.
  • I want to with LO but idk. We had one done with DS and it was so cool to watch! It was a gift to me from MIL on Mother's Day.. But where I live now one of the cheapest packages would be about 100 with a decent package being 180. We do have a couple of them framed around the house so is say it was a good deal :)
