Opening the flood gates for my baby shower

To start with, we tried to get pregnant for a couple years before actually succeeding on our 2nd FET cycle. Even with this pregnancy I've had bleeding and cervix issues.
I asked DH a while back if he wanted to go to the baby shower, he just laughed. Now that it's closer, he's confessed that he would like to attend the shower because he doesn't want to miss anything with the whole experience. *awwww ok*
FF a few weeks and my uncle called my mom and asked if guys were allowed to come to the shower - they're from out of town and would like to attend if they're allowed. (2 uncles) My mom of course told them yes, which I don't mind.
Now that the word is out there that guys are "allowed" my SIL is bringing her boyfriend, a few friends are bringing their husbands...etc etc etc
I never even thought guys would WANT to come??? Has anyone ever been to a guys and girls baby shower???

Cervical check 10/7 with regular OB - 2.1cm --- going BACK to the MFM armed with ultrasound pictures from my OB of my cervix. *sigh*
MFM Appointment 10/8 - confirmed my cervix at 2.1cm - putting me on Progesterone for a week.
MFM Appointment 10/17 - Cervix unchanged! Keeping me on Progesterone - followup 10/29

But no I've never been to one with guys and girls.
TTC since December 2012, BFP 6/25/13. EDD 3/2/14. Baby Elias born 2/21/14 (38w5d)!
I've been to quite a few co-ed showers. They didn't run like a normal shower though in that the mom-to-be didn't open gifts in front of the whole group of guests. At some, the guys would hang out somewhere and the ladies would do the gift opening. At others, the mom-to-be didn't open the gifts at all (these were my favorite!!) and it was more just like a get together to celebrate the baby. I don't think I'd expect the guys to sit around for the gifts..I mean how many guys want to watch someone open a pump!? I actually really liked them because they were much more laid back and more like a party than a shower.
I will say the only one where it was kind of a huge pain was my BIL/SIL (mainly cause my SIL sucks). But she opened gifts only in front of the ladies while the guys hung out elsewhere which was fine. But then if she found something cute, she would call BIL and wait for him to come in so she could show him...then she got to a point where she wanted to show him everything but he had no interest in staying to look at it all cause umm he's a guy so it ended up taking forever. So I think it either has to be one or the other...guys are in it for the long haul with opening presents or they are not involved. No running back and forth cause face it, no one wants to watch someone open presents for that long!

Of course, once he found out it was going to be held at a restaurant he likes he suddenly wanted to come eat the food. I again said, "Hey, we could make it a co-ed shower." and he's like "No, I'll just come eat the stuff leftover at the end." To which I feel like replying "NO food for you!"

I have a shower in a couple weeks that may or may not be co-ed. DH and my brother will be there, but I think a few other guy friends are coming too! I told my SIL if she wanted to make it co-ed and invite all of the spouses (friends and cousins) I was fine with that. If not, we'll all still hang out after and have a highly competitive guys vs girls game of Catch Phrase!
