Parenting after a Loss

WWYD-NBR

We just paid $700 to have our car fixed about a week ago and now the Service Engine Soon light is on. DH is going to take it back to the place we got it "fixed" at and tell them to figure it out. I have this bad feeling that it's going to be something we can't afford or that isn't worth fixing b/c the car has 113,000 miles on it and it's a 2002. The major problem is, if that is the case, we can't afford to get another car on just his pay alone. Our current car is paid off so we don't have a payment and we have a truck that is paid off too. The car is the only baby mobile so we can't be with out it.?

I go to school full time Mon-Thurs in the morning and at night so the only job I could get would have to let ?me work weekends. I am getting ready to start my externship at school in January as well (hopefully I'll be done with school in April). DH only works Sat, Sun, Mon so he has the rest of the week free. Should I get a ?part time job or should he take a second job so that I can concentrate on finishing up school??

If the car issue turns out to be minor, it's no big deal right now. But as we know, car crap is usually never minor.?

Re: WWYD-NBR

  • It may not be as serious as you think, they may have just forgotten to reset the light.  I hope that is the case.

  • Hopefully it's nothing.  The service engine soon light can come on for no good reason, and if you just had a service repair, they sometimes don't get the code reset properly- I'd bet that's what happened.  (My DH was a service manager at a dealership, so I heard about this one!)

Good luck.  Otherwise, yes, I'd think your DH looking for a second job is a good idea since he has 4 days free.  Hope it all works out!
