Asking for a mirror in the OR to watch

Hello! I am new to the board and my third csect is scheduled for 10/28.
This will be our last baby as I am having my tubes tied during this delivery. I was wondering if anyone had asked/was allowed to have a mirror in the OR so they could watch LO being delivered. My first csect was an emergency and I remember very little. I didn't even think to ask with my second. With this being our last, I have a desire to watch one of my kids being delivered. Anyone with experience watching or what was your OB's reaction when you asked? Is it a hospital policy or up to the operating surgeon? I have no trouble with blood. Thanks!

    I've also heard of asking them to just lower the curtain as they are pulling the baby out. That's what I plan on asking for during my RCS.

    Without asking, the anesthesiologist moved a mirror into place for me to watch as soon as they were preparing to actually pull DS out.. They also let DH video at this point..

    I think my nerves would be through the roof if I watched. They let DH take pics so I saw her getting pulled out afterwards

    Our hospital allowed mirrors (they have one already installed, but they can hide it if you aren't interested in watching) and recording in the OR. We had extra nurses in there since I was having twins and one, who was there to keep me calm and describe/answer questions about what was going on as it happened, volunteered to be our photographer so DH could be in the pictures, which was amazing.

    I was very nauseous just hearing the sounds of the tools during my csection. I am impressed you can handle seeing it! I hope they let you do it though!

    Hmm I don't know about this. I never watched with my first 2 C/S but this will be my 3rd & most likely last baby, So I may ask them to lower the curtain just as they lift her out, other than that I'm not sure I'd wanna see any other party of the procedure...

    I watched when I had a minor out patient surgery, but just feeling what they were doing and the portion that was visible through reflections in the lights was plenty for me during the surgery. I don't know how I would have handledactually seeing it (but it was unplanned, and I wasn't handling it well emotionally, so that could make a pretty big difference). However, my doula video taped the whole thing, so I was able to watch it when I was ready (and that was really helpful for processing and moving on).
