We started with a new daycare this September and they seem to do special events once a month. In September they had a petty zoo come, last month they did pumpkin picking in the playground, painted them and had a little party. Each event I've been asked for $5.00 for. I don't mind, they don't do field trips or ask me to bring it any food so it seems fair. I also feel like it's supporting the school and I don't want my kids to feel left out. Next week they're doing a Thanksgiving lunch. For $5 my kids can get turkey, stuffing, veggies, ect., including apple and pumpkin pie. If I don't pay they get the hot dog and beans that are on the menu for that day.
I feel like my kids would prefer the hot dog. It's not going to be a party of anything like that, they'll sit next to a kid with the turkey at the same table. I might pay for DD, just so she can have the pie if she wants to, but I have to check with the teacher that she can have the hot dog if that's what she wants and just pie. I kind of feel like I'm being a pain if I don't participate thought. WWYD?
